Sharing Christmas with a Soldier in Iraq

Hello Everyone,

My brother has a friend that is in Iraq and will be there til March.  He usually spends the holidays with us and this year he won't be able to.  He's deployed to Bagdad Iraq.  I am putting together a package for him and wanted to invite you all to be included in blessing him for Christmas.  His name is Greg and he's 23.  When my brother was stationed in Virginia he met Greg and they have been close friends ever since.  I'd just like to send him something to not only thank him for his service but also to show him love during the holidays.  My brother is sending him a package also from his buddies at work and I thought instead of including my gifts with his package I'd start my own.  It's always nice to recieve gifts and I'm thinking it'd be especially nice since he's way over there.

I'm not really sure what kinds of things to send I tried to ask him without giving it away that I'm getting stuff together for him.  The only thing I can get out of him is he likes magazines like Maximum and others like that.  Not really sure what type of magazine it is so I cant help with the others like that.  I'm gonna call my brother tonight and see what kinds of things he could use while over there. (My brother did two tours over there) 

Beautiful Butterflies can bring things to the meeting Saturday and I will add them to the package.
I was hoping to get the things together within the next two weeks so I can send it and he can get it before Christmas and I know shipping will be crazy here pretty soon.

If any other support group would like to get a package together for Greg I can supply you with his address just let me know.

I think what your doing is so nice! I had 2 brothers that served over in Iraq. I will try to think of things too! I remember sending my brother some home made fudge and cookies. Let us know of other things this man might like ... You have such a big heart and I am glad that we are friends!!

Thanks so much Lori.  I just want to try to make him feel loved and not so homesick on the holidays.  My sister n law wants me to ask him about someone in his unit that doesn't have family or get letters or anything and is going to have her study group get a package together for that person.  I think that's super!!!  Yeah I sent my brother homemade cookies and stuff when he was there. 

I'm glad we're friends too I wish we could meet someday...someday I'm sure we will.
