Hotel in Columbia?

Any recommendations for what Hotel to use in Columbia that is near the hospital.  My parent and my husband will be stay the duration of my stay in the hospital. Hotels name would be helpful. Thanks!

There is one that is almost right across the street from the hospital. There is also one that is downtown area close to the hospital. My husband & I stayed there and also Sherr (aka) Blondie123 from the board has stayed there I just dont remember the name.  Hope this helps and congrats on your surgery. Mel

I believe the name of the hotel that is across from the University is Campus Inn. If you just want a room for the night you can go to hotels.com or hotwire.com and get a fairly cheap room.I know I saved 10.00 by going to the hotwire.com.  I had two seperate doctor visits last week and I got a room for 39.00 + tax off of hotwire.com. It was a Days Inn and it was okay if you just needed a place to lay your head for the night, nothing elaborate.Friendly service. It was at the intersection of Stadium and hwy 70. (573) 445-8511.  If you pull up a map of columbia you can see that hwy 63 runs into hwy 70.  You can also get to hwy 70 by taking stadium. It is almost like it makes a square because Stadium curves, running into 70.  There are all kinds of motels on this square.   Also when you call a motel ask if they give a discount for family who are visiting patients in the hospital. Some do but I am not sure which ones. It has been so long since I had to do this before.  You might even call the hospital they may have a list of hotels that give discounts to family. I have a much better option.  And I did the Hotwire.com Days Inn option the first time..... Go to the Regency Inn on Broadway, it is MUCH, MUCH better!  Tell them "sherr told you to ask them about the Medical rate" you will get a nice room for $45!!   It's a hotel instead of a Motel ((((like Days Inn)))) has covered parking, free continental breakfast for those than can eat, a pool, patio & jacuzzi and wireless internet.  Each room has a microwave & Fridge.  You can call them at 573-443-2090 I took a taxi for my surgery, and had a taxi bring me back to the hotel where I recovered for a week, then went to my post op follow up appt. I really enjoy the staff here. HTH Sherr
