Having Skin Removed.

Has anyone had their insurance company pay to have your skin removed? If so please tell me how to get an approval? I went from weighing 314 to 180 so you can imagine how desperatly I need my skin removed. It is an exclusion in every policy I have had. Any ideas???  

the tummy area might be able to do that thru medical nessesity. Do you have rashes or tears from the hanging skin? I have been having my pcp document on my chart the rashes and how often i get the medication refill that she prescribes for it.

I've never had a rash or anything like that. It will be hard for me to prove it medicaly neccessary.

I'm posting info on my profile page on this. I got my insurnace to view my abdominalplasty as MEDICALLY neccessary. It's not impossible but you have to be willing to FIGHT for it. I'd only lost 115 pounds so I was not an extreme case. I still had alot of out of pocket expense but after WLS if PS is what you want, you CAN find ways to pay for it......credit card with no interest for a year.....a loan....cashing in on a retirement plan....if you do that last one, come tax time when you can show you used it for medical expenses you get a break.  There's a website which is something like the American Association of Palstic Surgeons and they have tons of useful info for isurances to use as guidelines for determining medical neccessity.
