first denial
I was denied . The insurance said the explanation on my pysch eval and dietician eval were too general and that I did not have documented proof of BP problems. I told them that was wrong I sent in 100 pages of Dr, notes and I read them all before mailing them. I am on BP Medicine and have been for 6 months. she said she would ask the Doctor that reviewed my file to reconsider since they probably had missed that part about my BP. I aso ask Dr. Pitts office to call the insurance about the evaluations that were sent in. I'm going to go ahead and prepare an appeal letter. If anyone has any other suggestions please help me.
Jane,
Continue to start your appeal. Keep calling them till you know they read the part about your blood pressure. How long did you have blood pressure problems before you started on the medicine. I hope that was all in the notes. Being a nurse, I know how papers just get put aside or in the chart and lots of times due to hectic schedule, they are not always read. Keep trying and your day will come. Colette
Jane,
I'd call the dietitian and psychologist and explain what the insurance said and then if necessary schedule another appointment with them for a more detailed evaluation that would satisfy the Ins. Call the ins and ask exactly what they need to consider it a more detailed evaluation for each of these Drs. Your PCP will be the key to getting a reversal of the denial and it sounds to me like either the insurance didn't read the notes thoroughly or your PCP didn't document your HBP properly. Keep pushing. You'll get there.
