Surgery verses Missouri State Fair
I know a lot of you that are having your surgery in August may or may not be having the problems I've encountered! I live about 40 miles north of Poplar Bluff Missouri, and so it takes about 5 to 5 1/2 hours to drive to Sedalia. I have to come out on the 10th of August and spend the night so I can get my pre-op stuff done on the 11th. My surgery is August 17th so that means another 2 or 3 days at a hotel for my family. The problem I'm having is getting a hotel room! They are all booked up! Because of the fair. I finally got a room in Sweet Springs on the 10th, which is about 22 miles from Sedalia, and on my surgery date the only thing we could find was a room at the "Sho-Me-Kort Motel" don't that sound like a 5 star place? They are charging us $89.00 bucks a night! I just know they raised the price just for fair week. Well I feel better now. Has anyone heard anymore from Sky's daughter? The last thing I read said they found like 4 hernia's and had to remove like 98% of her stomach?
Brenda,
I am going to see Sky after work today. Will post when I get home. Girl, I only live 45 minutes from Sedalia, and you can camp out at my house. I live in the country, but it is beautiful. You let me know if you need a place to stay. Dont let the fair keep you away. I dont know about the sho-me Kort Motel. But I work in Sweet Springs and the Super 8 is a nice motel and there is another one peoples choice. But I know a motel in Concordia called Swans Lodge(my house that is free) I am serious girl.

I do pray that Sky is doing well, I'm anxious to find out how she is. My husband and I would like to thank you very much for the invite, but I will have several members of my family with me and I wouldn't lay that on anyone ! I do really thank you, it is rare for anyone to open their home to a stranger this day and time, but you being a christian just shows that you are doing what Jesus would do, I know God will bless you for it.
Just wondering if you tried making the reservations online? Sometimes you can get a lot better deal online than calling the hotel yourself. I have heard from a few friends that priceline.com is the way to go if you are sure about the dates. They told me you bid on a room and they either take it or turn it down. It may be worth a try. Wish I could be of more help but I see you already turned down staying with someone so I won't even offer that but if you change your mind let me know. Our house isn't very big far from it really but we could find room somewhere. You are in my prayers.
Sky
I checked priceline, cheap tickets, travelocity, and every other one I could find on the net. Price wasn't the problem it was the fact that all the hotels were booked solid, no empty rooms anywhere during fair time. Thanks for offering your home but as I told Colette I wouldn't want to impose upon you with my family. I'm not sure yet how many will be there. You both have my upmost gratitude for your heart felt offer. Sky is this you or the daughter.
This is really me. And I am doing so much better. I even ate a whole sf popsicle. yummy. LOL I am still sore and still hurt some but not at all like I was. Just got to remember to keep moving. It helps work some of the soreness out. I learned that with DD #1..had her emergency c-section.
Sorry about your trouble finding a room. I pray that one will open up and you can get one ok. I wonder if someone in the hospital could maybe help. One of their social worker people. Can't remember what they are really called right off the top of my head. Sorry.
