thoughts - dumping now??
Morning!!
A couple of nights ago I had about 2-3oz of mixed nuts with about a tablespoon of raisins mixed in for a snack while at work... I grab a nut here and there through a 6 hour period as I don't really get a break to eat in there. When I got home, I took care of the dogs, got everything cleaned up and them all out, went to lay down to read for a bit and got really sick to my stomach... hurried through the pups to the bathroom and stood there gulping. This is only the 2nd time in 9 months.
I went to the fair yesterday and experienced that same feeling again... I had a couple of OZ of a roast turkey leg while the guys ate corn dogs... Then we stopped at the 4H barn and had a glass of milk - I also grabbed a carmel apple sundae for me and grandmonster. I had a couple of drinks of milk and headed to the bathroom... same thing happened. I"m not getting actually sick... just that damn gulping.
Here's the stupid thing. (in more ways than one) - I was hungry again and I seriously, thinking back think it was head or emotion munchies - so grabbed a corndog - ate about a third of it just fine with no problems... on the way out the gate we stopped and got funnel cakes... had about a quarter of one with the powdered sugar on it - heck I wasn't even thinking - and was just fine again... (also had a grand time flirting with the carnie lol)
why the heck is healthy stuff making me sick and the crap is going down fine!!! I know.. lay off the crap and I will be now again. But it's puzzling the heck out of me.
I'm also wondering if anyone else has had this creep up on them this far out after no problems earlier...
Thanks for any thoughts!!

Appears the stuff you are having as "healthy" may have too much sugar in it. Regular milk is full of sugar (skim milk has a lot), raisins have sugar, and depending on the nuts, they may have had sugar (honey roasted sends me to the bathroom). Too much strung together may be a problem.
And you may have been eating too fast at the fair.....enjoying the sights and sounds and forgot to chew, chew, chew. The roasted turkey may have had ingredients in it for their "roasting" process that don't agree with your system.
I find the gulping is something is stuck, not dumping. The gulping may have "dislodged" the culprit so the rest went through.....And maybe the "unhealthy" stuff is more of a slider food you chewed more......
My dumping is the shakes -- EVERY part of my body, nerves, organs, etc. and feeling really dizzy. If it is really bad, I will
and
for hours......
It's a balancing act --- but others have said it before -- one day it's fine, the next it isn't, the next it is again.
Have a WLS day today with protein first and all your water and see if you clear up... Then back to more of the same.....

Thanks Barb,
Yeah, any time I've had problems in the past I just pass out lol nothing else happens. not real fun.
I forgot hte milk was probably whole while I normally drink 2% ... the nuts are low sugar and rasins in that amount have never bothered me before...
hmm hadn't htought of something stuck... that may be though... turkey could have been the culprit. I"m sure I ate it faster than I should have with little MIckey anxious to get on the rides :)
Thanks for the thoughts! something non-food to chew on :)
*hugs*

Yeah it's strange... some days are great and some just plain bite! lol I have had almost zero problems to this point and NOW my pouch gets grumpy... could be the stress around here too with Roger gone and me trying to do everything... it's getting to me I'm afraid.
But yeah, if something sounds good, it seems to work... unfortunately it isn't always something I should be having lol
thanks for your thoughts!

I'm still trying to figure out what all of the different signs and symptoms are for me - but the gulping that you're describing sounds similar to what happens to me when I eat something too fast. It can be the first bite of something or it can be some other bite. When it happens I usually stop eating (I still only eat at meal times)...sometimes it passes in a minute or two and I continue with my meal and sometimes it doesn't pass and I just end the meal.
I don't know about why it happened with the nuts if you were eating that little over the course of the day. With the turkey/milk you probably ate too much turkey too fast and then drinking the milk pushed all of it into your pouch sooner than it was ready for and it made you feel icky. Once your pouch had time to process it through and then you were hungry again (because the milk probably pushed the food through your pouch and then you were hungry before you expected).
I hope that it stops happening for you. It sounds quite unpleasant.

It's a roller coaster ride all right :) lol I appreciate your thoughts on the matter and it seems to make sense... I was just so surprised first about the nuts... and then it happened again after not having any problems for so long! Guess that's what I get for taking my pouch for granted :) It's really letting me know who's in charge now! lol
Thanks!
