OT: The Stray Kitten Update
Diane, I know you've been wondering, so thought I'd post a quick update.
We called him Maverick, it seemed appropriate for him under the cir****tances.
He ended up doubling his weight while in our care, which was a good thing!
He learned to use his litter box and was just a real smart kitten.
He loved being outside so I'm guessing he may continue to be a semi-ferral depending on the home he goes to for permanent residency.
He loved my daylily's and I often times would find him jumping amongst them if I couldn't find him anywhere else.
He was still blind, but we have hope some of his sight will eventually be restored.
Last Tuesday, we did find a foster home for him in which the lady takes in kittens and is considered a no kill shelter. She nurses them back to health and then adopts them out. She currently has 9 in her care, including Maverick.
He ended up having an ulcerated cornea and this lady had only dealt with that 1 other time, but was willing to still take him in. Thank God for her! We were blessed to find her.
Although we were very sad to have to give him away, we knew it was in his best interest.
Here was a pic from last Monday. You can see the ulcer in the left eye, and you can also see how he had gained weight. He was a real blessing in our life and we're so thankful we got the opportunity to nurse him back as much as we did!
