Saying good-bye

Don't you just love catchy topic titles? LOL

As the last days arrive closer to my pre-opt appointment, I have been catching a meal here and there of foods I will no longer be able to have (for a while).
Last night we went to Famous Daves and had a nice meal of ribs and chicken.
We topped off the meal with a trip to TCBY for a frozen treat.

I have 8 days left til I start the wonderful liquid diet (hopefully).

Some of my  co-workers/friends will be taking me out for pizza and odd but true I want a FGI Fridays burger with jack daniels sauce.

Some of those foods will come back to me over time in a different shape/form but, for now it is the last hurrah for them. Funny how I am so ready for this surgery  that it isn't even a sad event it is a pleasureful event.

Peace out.

Good luck. One of my favorite benefits of surgery was the first time my wife took me to Famous Dave's  AFTER surgery. I enjoyed what I did eat, but I was so proud of myself asking for a "doggie bag".  It may not sound like much but having (lots)  leftoever food was a real upper for me. My leftovers lasted almost all week.

You will do great

Kelly,  I did the same thing right before my LD, but mine was Thanksgiving dinner because my LD started that Saturday.  I think so long as you do not eat and eat and eat for the next 8 days and make deliberate choices that it is not a bad way to prepare for the LD and post-op life. I also really like your outlook on the whole thing that some of these foods will come back into your life just in a different form (and portion size).

P.S.  I LOVE Peanut, he makes me laugh the most out of all of Jeff Dunham's puppets!

My doc told me to "do what I had to do" before the LD and I did.  Of course, I gained 5 pounds which I had to re-lose on the diet.  Oh well.  It did help me to get through the LD and these first few weeks post-op.  Starting next Thursday I have no more food restrictions and I've got to say, the feeling of deprivation goes away quickly after you are able to start eating again.  I go out to eat every once in a while, but not very much as I eat so little that it rarely seems worth it.  I went to Key's Cafe the other night to get a *cup* of chicken chili and I felt hungry and I told myself and my husband, "I'm going to eat this whole cup of chili tonight.  I'm sure that it isn't that much."  He laughed at me.  I started to eat and was done about 1/2 cup later (as is the amount of food that pouchie holds whether I try to tell it otherwise or not).  I ate that chili the next day for lunch AND the next day for dinner.  So much for eating it all in one sitting.  Oh well, it is always fascinating to me how my mind is still weak and wants to overeat like crazy, but my pouch tells me otherwise.

Enjoy your trips out.  Try not to gain too much weight back.  An unhealthy tip to  you as you try to say good-bye - don't forget your dessert - sugar is the one food that you won't want to "try" anytime soon (at least most people don't).  I wasn't a sweet eater but when I drive past Culver's I do get a bit remorseful.  Of course, then I look at the nutritional information...

I'll always regret not having that last piece of carrot cake!!!  My all time favorite desert!!!!  But oh well -- I'm not missing its' side affects......

We all go through the "last meal" that lasts for a couple of weeks.  But really -- you will be able to these foods again and not feel deprived!!!

Loved the catchy headline!!!

Thanks everyone.
I know these "last suppers" will not be gone forever (just for a while)
I do not feel guilty about having them and spending that last bit of time with family/friends around a table enjoying the meal and conversing.
I am so ready to begin my new life, the days seem to be dragging to get to the date.LOL
Today: I will have patience LOL
