I put her in the small kennel while we went out to eat last night.  We weren't gone that long and when we got back she had peed.  She had just gone not that long before we left in the backyard.  I had to give her a bath and wash out the kennel.  I thought with it being so small she wouldn't do that.  But either she has seperation anxiety so bad she can't help it, or she is so used to going in the cage she had to live in that it's normal to her.

It will take some time for her to work out any anxiety issues she may have. Keep up with a routine and she will become accustomed to it. The kennel should only be big enough for her to stand up and turn around. Anything bigger is like a play ground where she thinks it is ok to use as a dumping ground. TLC and consistancy will be your key factors. I wish you the best of luck and hugs to the puppy!

I have her in a small kennel that we used to use for the cat.  It's not to big for her at all, in fact hubby thinks it's to small.  I think it's just right for the cir****tances.  I was pleased to come home today after an hour and a half and find her dry.  Only thing in the bottom was a few dirty paw prints.

I'll look and see if I can find anything to help out...  until this passes, love and patience are the key.

I don't punish her I fingure that will just stress her out more and make her hate the kennel more.  Today she stayed dry for an hour and a half so maybe she's learning that if she stays dry, when I get home she gets held close instead of an arms length away and won't have to take another bath!

Were there blankets or anything in the crate, or just the plastic bottom?  I've heard that if there items to absorb the pee, they don't get that wet,and they don' care, so if you haven't already, try here in there, no paper, pee pads, or blankets.  I hope you can figure out something that works soon.

No, I don't put anything in there but her.  I thought it's to hot for a blanket and she'd just pee on it and that would be one more thing for me to wash.  She stayed dry for an hour and a half today and did double duty in the yard when I got home.  I think that made us both happy.

OH, good girl!   I just looked at my post above, nice writing skills Kristy.  :-)  That's what happens with baby on lap and typing one handed.

As long as we can make sense of it, it doesn't matter.

Sooo sorry.  PM me and I an meet you to get the wire kennel.  You may just need to set her up for a while with a bed, food, water and puppy pads when you leave.  After she sees you come back a few times and gets the routine down, she may stop on her own if you don't make a big deal about it.  If not, at least she is contained, has food, water and a place to pee and sleep.
