Good luck!  I have BCBS and had met their requirement and lost all the appeals......I am on the search for a good lawyer that won't cost and arm and a leg!   PM me if you want more details.

I have BCBS MN too and was wondering how hard it would be to get alittle tucked after I lose my weight.  Sandie-  did it take long for them to approve surgery?  Did you do the 6 month medically supervised attempt through Fairview SD?

With all BC plans it depends on who your employer is, if you are with a large national employer you might have a different benefit than other groups in MN. National accounts and unions plans  choose what is paid for- it's their money and BC really is just an administrator of the employers plan.
For fully insured regular groups plastic suregry is not covered, that is an industry standard nationally not a BC rule. The only expection that I am aware of it the panniectomy (extra tummy skin)  that they will cover if you have documented medical issues with it- otherwise you are on your own for plastics.
Check out the plastics board or call custtomer service they should be able to tell you what your plan's benefits are.  Good Luck!

LynnMarie is right. It depends on the employer with BCBS. I have BCBS Federal Government insurance and they cover way more that regular BC would and I didn't have to do the 6 mo supervised stuff either. From what I remember reading in our BCBS handbook, they only cover plastics after WLS if you have sores or other problems because of the extra skin.
Let us know if you have success! Good luck!

Heidi
