Why Did I Do This . . . I Hate my RNY

Soooooo sorry to hear that you're experiencing buyer's remorse.  However, as many others have said, it's extremely normal.

First, when you start losing weight hormones are released from your fat cells into your system and can cause extreme emotional difficulties.  This will pass eventually.

As far as wishing you hadn't had the surgery, I'm 100% certain that you will eventually change your mind.  Once you start really shedding the weight and can notice the difference and have to start finding new clothes, you will be able to see how great this surgery is.  The first two to three months are grueling though.  It seems as if the world has plotted against you by showing only food commercials, your family seems to be quite insensitive to the fact that they can still eat everything and anything they want when you're stuck with just a few items on your menu.  It's plain ol' sucks.

However, try to think of it in the positive.  I'm 15 months out and I was just thinking the other day that I wished I could go back to the first 2 months and do it all over again.  I was so intent on getting to the point where I could eat "real" food again that it consumed me - much how you're probably feeling today.  However, now that I can pretty much eat what I want, I crave to be more controlled in being able to eat whatever I want.  I wish my pouch wouldn't let me eat more than a cup of food and all the slider foods that I used to be so afraid to try.  Those days are gone and now it's more about a choice that I have to make everyday to prevent myself from going in the wrong direction - and believe you me - it's so easy to do.

So try and remind yourself why you wanted to do this surgery in the first place.  I'm assuming it's because you wanted to be healthier and of course to look better and to be more active.  There's probably a dozen other reasons too.  Try to remember the things that you wanted to be able to do when you could finally say that you weren't fat.  Keep your eyes on those goals and you will see that soon enough the point that you're in right now will be but a blip on the radar.

I will say some prayers that you can come to a peaceful point about where you're at.

Take care & God Bless,
Tracy
