Why Did I Do This . . . I Hate my RNY

Although I can't say this happened to me, I have seen people post your same regrets soon after surgery time and time again.  Totally normal..."Buyer's remorse."   It is a BIG adjustment and your new tummy is still healing.  In time, you will feel normal again and you will see the rewards of having this surgery and you will look back and chuckle at this part.  Just remember those often said words "this too shall pass".   You will be okay...just hang in there hon!

It is very hard in the beginning for some. I had a rough start but now that I'm 7 months out I would do it all over again even going through the tough parts. As time goes on it will get better and you will remember the struggles you went through to get healthy and not want to go back.

Wishing you all the best!!

When Angela was struggling early on after her surgery, I told her the day would come when she would NOT regret having done it, when she would start having WOW!!! moments, and when that time came, I would say "I told you so!"

So sweetie?  You're next.   You hate it now, your hormones are making you nuts, you are having to find something to fill the space you used to fill with food.  The day will come when you, too, say "I'd do it again!"

And when that day comes?  Remind me to say "I told you so"

I didn't have RNY

but totally had the "buyers remorse" you are experiencing now!!!  It's totally normal and VERY common!!
Hang in there - it DOES get better!

I think you have already received some good feed back but thought I'd also tell you I felt the same too.   I became really obsessed with food the first month and it was so hard not to be able to eat.  I went back to work a week early just to have something to do so I wouldn't obsess.  You will start to feel better soon. The time will go by so fast you won't believe it!

How ironic for me to come across this... I had my RNY the day before you and yesterday woke up with the same feelings in an overwhelming way.  I bawled all day and had the same thoughts.  I guess we'll have to trust time and know it'll get better.  In the meantime, break out the kleenex and let it all out, I guess.

Try to look at how your health is so important. 6 months ago I had high blood pressure, gerd and border line diabetic. Now I am none of those and happy to be healthy. I would do it all over if I had to, 6 months was not that long ago.

EVERYONE has been there.  This is not all sunshine and roses.  We have ALL had regret days.  You are so new to this; give it time.

You will get your energy back and then some; you had MAJOR surgery a week ago.  Cut yourself some slack.

Hang in there.  It will be worth it.

Take care.
