Health Crisis - Need advice, good thoughts and prayers

Hi everyone,

Sorry I have been so out of touch since moving to Boston.  Life is good here, but hectic.  We are still trying to sell our home in MN, so that is stressful.  Otherwise, we are pleased with our move.  Greg is enjoying hi new job and I am so glad I stayed with my employer and took the relocation.  They have been wonderful.

Here is the main reason for my post.  On Tuesday of this week I was diagnosis with breast cancer.  I don't have lot of details yet.  I know it's small and we caught it early.  I meet with the surgical oncologist on Monday and will get more information on the type and stage of the cancer and treatment options.  Im wondering if anyone here has fought cancer following their RNY.  I'm concerned about the fact that my iron has been low for the past 9 months and how this and malabsorption in general may affect my treatment / recovery.  If anyone has any advice I'm open to hearing what you've experienced.

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers for a full recovery and no future recurrences.  I miss you guys and have booked a trip to MN later this month.  I arrive in town on April 23rd just so I can attend the support group meeting.  I hope to see you there!

(((Tracy))) no advice from a pre-op, but just wanted to send you hugs and positive thoughts! *my only suggestion would be to post to the RNY board also just in case*

Hi Tracey.  I don't know much about treatment and if the RNY affects the treatment and recovery, but I just wanted to say hi and sorry about your recent dx.  I'm glad they caught it early and I'm praying that you have a smooth treatment process and a fast recovery.  ((((Hugs))))) Michelle

Thanks CheriLynn and Kelly for your kind words and good thoughts.  I did speak to Dave, my PNC nurse today.  He told me the RNY should not impact my treatment negatively, so I feel much better knowing that is not a concern.  Dave and I had a great conversation.  Thanks Dave!!!!!
