After reading your replies WITH my husband.. ( he felt pretty good that you all kinda "felt his pain") I am going to get a medical alert bracelt. What should it say....??? Thanks for all the help you all gave me... the feedback ( although kinda harsh ) was much needed.

Good for you Linda.  I know I have seen cute styles out there like beaded ones.  I googled "gastric bypass medical id braclets" and quite a few sites came up.  Let us know what you decide on and keep us posted on what the Dr. says.  He should be able to help with what you should have on it too.   A BIG hug to you!!!

I asked my surgeon about this last week - the main thing that it would be needed for - or that you would need different care for is if you are incapacitated and they want to start an NG tube to drain your stomach - that NG tubes dont work for RNY patients. 

maybe it just needs to say RNY and the date you had it - so they know you had it awhile ago.

I think your doc appt will probably help today too - so hubby will know what to do when these things happen.   

I know abbott has support for spouse/family of WLS patients - maybe that would help too?

Hi Linda... I actually have two tags (lots of bracelets thanks to laurenshope.com). The first tag says: Heather R Roux-en-Y Bypass No Blind NG Tube Sulfa Alergy The second tag which is a 'Medic Alert' tag (registered through medicalert.org) as I do have some other issues that my DR thought important to have on file says: Gastric Bypass, Pseudotumor Cerebri.  Alergic Sulfa, Tetracyclines. Hope this helps! :) H
