Saturday morning coffee

Good morning everyone regular with french vanilla here.
Waiting for my gf to show up we are going out to breakfast.Then off to work I go at 1100 today.Do not care for late days but with the new position comes new responsibilities.
QOTD:What are your plans for opening day tomorrow.They have a buck pole at our community center.We go there to see all the poor deer.Then they will have a free steak dinner for everyone.Cannot pass that up.They also have a huge bonfire so that is where my family and I shall be.

Nothing for me today yet.  I couldn't believe no one had posted yet.  I was getting ready to post the Saturday post and then I hit refresh and there you were Danielle.  Seems sort of late to be starting a post at almost 7:30 a.m.  Where is everyone?
I forgot to turn off my calico beans in the crock pot last night so they cooked for almost 12 hours.  Should be good anyway.
Looks a little dreary out there today.  The sun is barely peaking through all of the clouds.  I had a dream last night that it was 99* out and snowing.  My comment in the dream was 'only in Michigan"
Going to my cousin's at the other end of the lake for dinner tonight.
QOTD:  Usually on opening day I'm sitting in the woods with hubby.  This year I'm traveling downstate because I've got a dentist and doctors appt.  Will be back up here on Tuesday night.  Hubby and oldest son is hunting over on our property in the Alpena area.  There's a 10 pt buck reported to be in the area, so it would be nice if they could bag him.  Obviously I come from a long line of hunters and am not squeemish about the killing of deer.  It's more humane than letting them starve.

What's calico beans?

Hope the sun came out for you, it was a totally sunny beautiful day down here today.  I think Oct and Nov switched places this year :).

The sun did come up and it was 61*.  Gorgeous day for walking.
Calico beans are:
2 lb extra lean ground beef or turkey browned, 1 lb bacon fried and drained & crumbled, 1 large onion finely chopped, 1 cup catsup, 1 tsp salt, 2 tsp dry mustard, 1/2 cup brown sugar splenda, 4 tsp vinegar, 2 cans pork & beans, 2 cans kidney beans drained, 2 cans butter beans.  Blend all and put into crock pot on low for 6 - 8 hours.
Got the recipe on OH somewhere.  Maybe the over 50 forum.

Good Morning All,

I miss not going out hunting.  Have not gone if a few years.  It is so peaceful.

Today is my opening day.  There is a new Salvation Army store opening today. lol  I have a few things on my hunting list.

Hope they get that 10 pointer.  That would make a nice mantel piece.

How was the opening????  Last weekend was Clarkston's and a friend of mine called me on her way....while we were talking she pulled into the parking lot and said it was CRAZY, she almost had parking lot rage a few times, never parked (couldn't ) and went home.

Hope you had a better time than her.

QOTD-Didn't realize that tomorrow is opening day for deer season. We aren't into hunting around here. My son-in-law is, but he hasn't in a couple of years. Tommorow my son runs his first Marathon in SanAntonio. Wish I could be there for him

I was asked to take a management position.Doing MDS assessments etc,supervision etc.Hopefully help fix our problems
