Gussie, I am sorry to hear about your DH having such a hard go of things.  And praying - it helps calm the soul.

Good rainy morning all -

I'm enjoying my cup o' coffee this morning, as usual.  Went shopping last night and found the cutest new purse at TJ Maxx.  Also got a great deal on a new totebag -- black leather with hot pink lining -- which will become the bag I use to cart my crap back and forth to work.

QOTD -- This weekend is about rejuvination.  I've been feeling "over drawn" lately in the emotional banking department, so this weekend I'm unplugging everything and spending some quiet time.  No phone, no tv, no computer (yikes!) .... I've been reading up about "meditation through a day of silence" and I'm going to give it a try.  Not sure I can do two days unplugged, but at least one day for sure.

Oh Pam, we'll miss you - LOL !

I can honestly say, it is kind of nice.  Steve and I just got back from vacation where we were staying in the mountains.  No cell phone service unless we drove down a few miles.  No phones, no computer.  Ok, we did have a TV, but it's amazing how relaxed I was by not 'signing on to work' while I was on vacation.  We have laptops so anytime I have been 'on vacation' I normally sign on from home and check emails, etc.....this was truly a vacation to be detatched from all of that for a few days.

Enjoy your weekend and quiet time!

Nan

Ya know... I typically do a week of camping every summer (in my parents camper) and literally unplug for a whole week and just spend time reading or putzing around.  I haven't done that in a couple years now and I think it's really catching up to me.  I know unplugging will be hard if I stay at home because it's too easy to just flip on the computer and do a quick check.  So I'm contemplating a small roadtrip on either Saturday or Sunday to force myself to get away -- there's no cell signal in the thumb.  LOL

Morning All,

Jan, I understand your uneasyness.  My hubby just went on 2nd shift, I just can't settle into a good sleep until I know he is home.  Last night, I swear I heard something in the bedroom walls.  After my initial freak out, I got up and my son had knocked over his fan on his night stand and it hit something else that vibrated against the wall that made the scratchy sounds. Guess I shouldn't have watched Verminators on Discovery before I went to bed last night.

QOTD - My son is 6 tomorrow, so it is birthday weekend.  He wants to go to Burger King for lunch before we pick up his cake for his party tomorrow night.  We have between 25-35 people coming over tomorrow for his party.  Will be glad when its over.

5 for Friday

1. Where do you like to walk? I prefer outdoors, but generally walking is my time, so anywhere I can gather my thoughts.

2. What does your hair look like?  a little longer than my current avatar pic, other than that, not much different.

3. What are you jealous of?  Not really a jealous person, I do envy people who can eat what they want and never have to worry about it.

4. What kind of promises do you make?  The ones I know I can keep.

5. What makes you stare? My son sleeping contently after a great day.

Oops... missed the questions...

1. Where do you like to walk?
Genysis hospital in Flint has amazing walking trails that wind around their property.  It's like paved nature trails.

2. What does your hair look like?
Short and sassy. I've always wanted short hair, but my face was too fat and chubby so it never looked good.  Now that I'm skinnier, I'm loving how easy my hair is.

3. What are you jealous of?
Sorta.... people who work for the school system and get 3 months off for summer.  But then again, I wouldn't want to endure the 9 months of dealing with kids everyday, so I guess I'll just stick with working year round.

4. What kind of promises do you make?
I don't make many promises -- at least not that I can think of off the top of my head.  If I say I'm going to do something or be somewhere, I do it.  But I wouldn't necessarily think of that as a promise.

5. What makes you stare?
A sexy man's butt packed into a pair of Levi's.

He hangs out on facebook alot and has done a ton of camping.  Maybe that is someone to be jealous of?  Someone who can spend the whole summer camping in various parts of Michigan.
