Ugh. Sorry you have to go for a 2nd study. I had only one.. and I was diagnosed with apnea very easily. I got my info from the medical supply place as I haven't had a followup with my sleep doctor yet.. I woke up 171 times in 3 hours and remembered not one of them. Isn't that crazy? The trick I used to make sure I got sleep was to run around like a maniac all day and stayed away from caffeine as well. I mean I literally barely sat down.  You may have borderline apnea.. they had said I think you have to wake up a minimum of 20 times an hour in order for them to try the mask on you the first night. I had a hard time falling asleep with it on at first.. I was FREAKING OUT having that thing on my face.. but once I got used to it, I was OUT like a light. If you indeed have apnea, the CPAP you get will really help you. I have had it for a couple nights at home now, and I can tell a difference. I sit at the computer for my work.. and surprise surprise.. I don't nod off at random times anymore. Ha.  I hope you can get through the 2nd one.. did you go to MMPC sleep center for it? I had a tech named Amy.. and she was SO nice and helpful. I don't know if you can request who is your tech, but if you can.. you should ask for her. Tell them the issues you have with your back.. maybe you can get some pain medication beforehand or something to help you sleep at least. I wish you luck with the 2nd one!!

Hi Jodie -  I really didn't think I had sleep apnea since I have no other symptoms.  I am not a dozer (except when I'm pregnant).  If I wake up during the night a lot, I am totally unaware of it.  I almost wake to roll over (to relocate my body pillow) then I am back out.   When I go to bed, I typically go right to sleep.  It really only takes me a minute (or less) to go to sleep....and I stay asleep.  That really irritates my husband since he is the one who wakes all the time and has a hard time falling to sleep.  I am also a sound sleeper and I wake up refreshed (unless I've had a short night).  I do not nap or get headaches (unless I nap). But during the sleep study I just couldn't sleep!!  I figured it would be a piece of cake.  I know I was nodding off. Almost not even a total nod. I'd just start to drift and then I'd be wide awake again.  It was so frustrating!!  I wanted to sleep.  When I did fall asleep I wasn't sleeping well and woke up frequently.  That is why I am hoping I can take a sleeping pill even though I have never taken one before. I got up a bit earlier that morning and I have twin 4 month olds and a special needs 2 yr old.  I don't get much down time.  That is probably why when I go to bed, I go right to sleep.  I thought about staying up late the night before and getting up really early.  I wonder how that would effect the test though.  I wouldn't think exhaustion would produce an accurate result either.  When I call to pre-register or confirm the appt I will ask about Tylenol PM or if they have other suggestions. Thanks for your input!  I hope you have a good follow-up appt and get your date soon! Gwen
