Just relax- dont worry yourself into a tizzy.  Sometimes these things take time..trust me they do.  Things will happen..just be patient..I know its hard but you have to do it.. Positive vibes Shannon

Hi Shawn....gosh, I know how you feel.  I went through almost a year of the waiting and seeing game. It is so frustrating that there were days I would have to say,"if this is meant to be it will happen, but maybe not when I want it to happen". Being caught up with the vacation and surgery schedule  thing is very overwhelming, but hang in there and I have a feeling it will all work out for you. I will keep you in my positive thoughts. Hugs, colleen

We Or should I say Wife and I had the surgery the same day , It does take time . about 6 months for us to get all are tests done . Would I do it again ,YES all the wt. I have lossed would still be there . and maybe more if the surgery was not done. It's still a lot of work to get the pounds off. Unlike the RNY we have to work hard to drop the pounds off. And we still have to watch everything we eat. Its easy to cheat. Good luck in your journey and dont let the head games win

I really hope things start clicking for you and you get what you're hoping for. It is a bit unrealistic to plan things this way.  I think most of us will agree that we did the waiting game and things happened in bursts and lulls.  With this kind of elective surgery, there are so many variables you just can't pre-plan it in this short amount of time. Keep your chin up, know that it will eventually happen.  We've been there and know how nerve wracking this can be.

b star is correct after all if your appproval and everything comes together July 31, then what you never have surgery, I sure hope not,  Never make plans for surgery until they call to set your date

I actually took off the week in April last August (that's when we are req. to submit vacation requests for the following year per our union contract).  It wasn't even with the hopes of having surgery.  I was pregnant at the time so I wasn't able to start the preop process.  The second week in April actually coincides with spring break here.  I took that time off with the intention of going to Florida with my sister and her family and my parents.  When it looked like surgery might be close to that time, I did not buy airline tickets or make plans to go with them.  When I said I was hopeful, I meant I hopefully wanted to have surgery that week, not that I took it off planning to having surgery then.  I know this is a long, vicious process.  I just feel like everyone along the way is making it as hard as they can.  Do they call that trial by fire ????  There's no way I'm going to quit and even if I don't have surgery until next year, I'll still have it.  I have been ready to have this surgery since 2006 (DH didn't want me to have surgery then get pg so we decided to have our 2nd child first).

it looked like, might have been, could have been, was supposed to be, i thought i was gonna, etc etc...NONE of these are a sure thing until that date is etched in stone.  The proverbial cart got put before the horse here, and now it's time to right what went wrong.  Believe me my friend, you will most likely need more than 1 week off after surgery regardless of whether you have the lap band or other procedure. it will take at least that long to get the carbon dioxide gas out of your abdomen, and that is NOT a comfortable thing to deal with AND try to work.  you've done everything that needs to be done pre-op except the most important part...schedule the time off when you KNOW you need it, and allow enough time for you to recover fully.  if you "can't do it this week or that week---next month or that month won't work.."  then you aren't ready yet.  if union says you have to do this and that, then union will also protect your job if you have to take an unscheduled, unpaid week or so off, correct?  don't forget about the family medical leave act.  if you can't have your surgery during a scheduled vacation time, then give yourself the time YOU need, when YOU need it for this thing.  this might sound harsh but what if you suddenly became acutely ill and had to take that week off on short notice?  They gonna fire you?  probably not.  at least if they know ahead of time they can be prepared for your absence.  good luck.
