Surgery is 1 week from today. How long before you can start cardio and then how much longer to weights after that... assuming everything goes o.k. Thanks in advance for any reply

Thank you. I will certainly ask my Doctor. I was just hoping to hear from others, especially those that had RNY, as that is what I am having

I started walking right away.  A couple houses away then back again.  By time I went back to work - after two weeks - I was back up to a mile every morning.  As for the weights, I think most will say 6 to 8 weeks.

Walk at first. Just to get your chitlins lined up. Walk on  a time schedule starting with as much as you can stand around the house. No stairs. Then see if you can get to a mall. Walking outside and slipping will mess you up. Try to double your walk time every week till your up to an hour at a good clip. That should take you through your first two to three months. Then maybe water aerobics. When you get to the 50 - 60% of excess weight lost try weights but you will have to increase your proteinby about 20% per day.You start to lose muscle when your body figures out you are not getting what you used to get. kp
