Barix Clinics - Any experience out there?

Hi, I had my RNY surgery at Barix in Ypsilanti with Dr. Poplowski.  I've been very happy with the surgery - I've had no complications or problems. That said, I think that the Barix program is a bit lacking in pre- and post- surgery education/support.  I've had friends that had surgery other places and had a much more intensive preparation than I had and also much better support groups afterwards. However, these same friends that had surgery elsewhere have had some major and minor complications since surgery.  I don't think that their surgeons were as experienced as the Barix ones. I chose Barix because I thought their surgeons were the most experienced and because they only do bariatric surgery there.  The facility was great and my stay after surgery was also great.

i went to barix and dr. schram did my RNY. I loved dr. schram and had an absolutely positive experience there. i'm just about 6 1/2 months out from my surgery and have lost 136 pounds total... i wouldn't hesitate to recommend dr. schram / barix to anyone...

I had an open RNY on May 30, 07 and 132lbs later (and still going) it was the best choice of my life.  Dr. Poplowski did my surgery as well and the entire staff was excellent to my entire family (mom and dad and husband were all there).  I ended up staying a day longer than expected because they couldn't do it lap like originally expected (I've had no kids) and even that was a pleasure.   I'd highly recommend Barix.  I know people that have had their surgeries done elsewhere (Harper, Hurley, etc...) and everyone has something to complain about.  I have no complaints, except for I wish I lived closer to Ypsilanti (I'm up in Bay City). I plan to have my plastics done at Barix and my consult is next month.  I would recommend them in an instant.  Their pre-certification/insurance people are freaking amazing!

Hi I had my surgery at Ypsilianti in 2004. My Dr. was Dr. Schram from Barix in Holland Michigan.  I recieved excellent care at both places. They will take good care of you. I also had plastic surgery thru Barix with Dr, Hing and he was also great. I started out at 354 and now down to 166 for a total loss of 188 pounds and I feel great.
