Rebecca if your doc recommended it then use it.    Read my profile and you'll understand why.   Sleep apnea is deadly, and being untreated and going under anesthesia can kill you.     As for the bipap and cpap, i liked the bipap way better. Linda

I have the cpap machine with the nose pillows. They are much better than the mask, but everyone has there likes to what they like to sleep with. I didn't want to use one, but after getting it and using it, I have noticed I sleep better and feel more rested than I used to. It isn't that bad after you get used to it.

I dont know about 25 but I had 30 in an hour and I am on CPap.  I have to say that I am a completely different person after using it.  If I dont use it for a few days I am completely exhausted. I love my CPap.  I will be anxious to see how I feel post surgery without it.

My AHI is 14 and my doctor said I needed to.....LOSE WEIGHT--who knew.  LOL Anyway he said that if I were to start having more symptoms that we would move on to CPAP.  So I guess if at 14 I could need it then 25 is even more significant.

I averaged 18 episodes an hour and was placed on a cpap.  I really love it.  I have not slept good in years!  The soft hum is like white noise and totally relaxes me.  It only took a couple nights to get used to it and now I sleep the whole night through.  Also I have not had the sinus trouble I usually have in the winter and I think that is d/t the humidifier. When I had my sleep study I think I had 18 in one hour and I was put on what is called BI-i-Pap. Which is the C-Pap on steroids. I have to wear a full face mask. The c-pap machines I saw with just nasal pillows don't look too bad

Yes, 25/hr is significant to require cpap.  I still continue to use my cpap although my pressures have gone down considerably from 18 to  9 with the weight loss.  I started on bipap because I had trouble with the exhalation phase of breathing.  I just couldn't breath out against 15 lbs of air pressure.  I now use an autopap which adjusts the to the highest and lowest pressure to stop the apneas.
