Hi Kandy! I'm sorry you're so frustrated. I'm behind you, so I haven't experienced this but I have no doubt that I will struggle with the LF too. In fact, I am thinking it might be the most difficult thing I ever do. No lie!!  Have you tried SF popsicles? That might give you the sense that you're actually EATING something? Are we allowed the No Sugar Added Fudgesicles on the LF? Or no? (Like I said, I'm not there yet so I don't know for sure.)  Keep your eye on the prize, sweetie, and remember that you are giving yourself the greatest gift ever!  (((Hugs)))  And vent away!

Have you taken your vitamins today?

This is a hard thing to do, Kandy, but you can do it.  Did you buy any of the proti-diet shakes from Dr. Gluck's office?  I bought the kind that you mix with water.  The tropical fruit and the grape flavors are not too bad.  Sugar-free popsicles help, too.  After you get through the first week, the hunger lessens and it's not so bad. Just hang in there, you are so close to your surgery date, and you will be glad you did this when your day finally gets here.  Good luck!

I am not familiar with the whole LF thing, I had to do a 900 cal. pre op diet, but sf hot cocoa is great.  It fills you up and you can even add some protein powder to it.  It takes a while to drink too, so you feel like you're actually filling up your tummy. Good Luck to you....I know how hard it must be!

I had to do the liquid diet but had to buy the products from MMPC so I didn't really have much choice. I do want to tell you that it was indeed, the hardest thing I have ever done.  It was also the most beneficial to me post operatively because it taught me how to eat for the first few weeks after gastric bypass surgery.  I know for a fact that if I hadn't done it, I would have had a much harder time adjusting to the new eating habits. The first four days were the worst and then I hardly felt like eating.  It became much easier, especially when I reminded myself that this would be the last time I "dieted".  You can do this!!  We are all here to support you. Best of luck, Jenn

Just curious, why 17 days of fast not 14 ??? I think that has got to be hard to accept.  Keep it up, it will be worth it.  I haven't been there yet, but I know I will look to all these good people for support, too.  GOOD LUCK!!! Clapping HandsYou can do it.

hi there.... i think its because i did not loose as much weight as the doc wanted before my pre-op appt and he just wants to make sure that my liver is shrunk enough to do the procedure... i understand and accept the reason behind it.... just frustrated as i had my head totally into 14 days and then to be told to start tomorrow..... it was just hard.. i cried.... and i do belive this WILL be the hardest thing i have ever done!! one advantage i have is for almost a month i was already replacing brekki and lunch with only liquids and then just having dinner.... so the transition is not that terrible.... just going through boredom with the same thing and possibly visual hunger.... i LOVE to cook and am pretty dang good at it... so its more than just not being able to eat.. cooking is fulfilling for me.. and now not doing it.... im irritated.... laughs....... work will make it easier.. its just the weekends to get through ...... thanks everyone for your support.... i truly truly appreciate it and i KNOW i can do this.... 3 years waiting to get here... 14 more days is nothing and i will keep telling myself that every day!!!! Hey Kandy.......wow...so your doing IT!!!  I know exactly how you feel. I am not saying this is o.k, but I did eat egg drop soup quite a few times and won ton soup without the won tons. I still lost about 13 pounds before surgery. I also put low sodium crackers(just a few) in my chicken broth so I felt like I was eating something. I ate a lot of sf lifesaver popsickles. Lots of sf jello and of course the protein shakes which I can't even look at now. The second week will be lots better, but it will test your endurance to say the least. I did have a few little cheats here and there....I will admit that now, but for the most part I stuck with it. I wish you the best and don't hesitate to get with me if need be. Hugs for a great journey, colleen.....down 30 pounds and feeling pretty good for the most part.
