Support Group at MMPC question
I am thinking of attending the support group at MMPC this Thursday and I was wondering some questions if anyone that goes to these could help give me some information.
What happens at these support groups?
Is there a speaker that comes to these that are from MMPC or is it just other people that have had surgery already?
Just curious since I do live an hour away and would need to probably find a babysitter for my daughter. I know there is a support group in Lansing, but it isn't from MMPC, and I haven't been to that one either. Just thought that there are people that are on here that could give me some info on what it is all about and like.
Thanks for any information I can get.
Amy
I have been in their groups for 3 years. Medical weight loss and soon to be surgical.
There is a group leader which is either a behaviorist, exercise physiologist or dietician.
I have learned soooo much about myself from these groups. A lot of it has to do with the patients that are involved. If you have a chatty group and you participate it is great. If people are quiet then it's a little less "fun".
I know people who go to surgical group and enjoy it too.
Hope this helps,
I have gone to the MMPC meetings and have really enjoyed them. (I live in Lansing too). The groups are usually quite large, but always fun.
You are alway invited to the meeting mentioned above in Leslie. Our next meeting is Wednesday, February 27th at 6 pm. It's a small group but it's been very helpful.
