I had my initial appointment with the measurements etc.  I took the psych tests.  I met with the bariatric medicine physician.  I had my body gem and EKG and discussed my psych tests with the behaviorist. The behavoirist said I would probably be getting a call from the surgeon before the end of next week. Is that it?  Do I meet with him and then get a surgery date?  I dont have to have any additional testing because I already have sleep apnea and am on c-pap.  My insurance doesnt require supervised diet if BMI is >40 and I dont have my gallbladder anymore so no need for an ultrasound. My DH is leaving tomorrow for 7 weeks so I know I dont want to schedule surgery while he's gone.  I have toddler twins and one is a special needs child so I couldnt do anything without him here.  But it wouldnt be so bad to do the 4 weeks of liquid diet when he isnt here. I know every place is different but in your experiences what comes next. Thanks! Laura www.caringbridge.org/visit/cassidyconway

Hi Laura! Dr Yenumula will meet with you.  The surgeon office will call and set up a date to meet with him.  After that, "the WLS team" meets to discuss your case and then schedule your surgery.  I start my Optifast on Thursday 2/7.   Sounds like your kinda in a dilema with your husband being gone for 7weeks.  Probably would plan on surgery after he is back and they can start the Optifast before he is back. How exciting Beth!  When is your surgery date?  A friend of mine just started her optifast on 2/1/08.  So you guys may be going through classes together. I am anxious and nervous and excited etc etc etc.  Dr. Yenumula seems so nice.  I went and listened to him and a plastics doc speak last Wednesday. Thanks for the info about the next step.  It just seemed to go so fast that I felt like there needed to be more. Laura www.caringbridge.org/visit/cassidyconway

I know!  My surgery is March 4th.  Not too far away!  I start my class on Thursday, excited and nervous at the same time.

I went to a support group in the town I live in, Leslie.  Nice group of ladies, they meet the last Wednesday of every month.  Glad I get to meet with them again before the surgery, pep talk and all.

Can't believe I'm this far away and I started this whole quest in Nov. 07!

Beth

I see Dr Yenemula on Wednesday!  But they told me its taking 6-8 weeks for BCBS FedEmployees to approve :( So after everything going so quickly now it may be close to summer before my surgery.  I really wanted to get it done now because the are talking about another brain surgery for my daughter and I want to be healed by the time they get to that. I guess I will just have to wait and see. Laura www.caringbridge.org/visit/cassidyconway

I met with Dr. Yenumula today and guess I am just waiting for a date!  Well, he wants me to have an endoscopy first for my GERD but that is all! He basically came in and said "you've been at this a long time.  Optifast in 1991?  I said yep, I did it when Oprah did"  I was 60 lbs lighter then. So I had my chest Xray and now I wait. I am not good at waiting.  But it will all be worth it in the end.  One of my good friends is scheduled in 2 weeks.  I told her she is my guinea pig.  I get to learn first hand what to do and not to do. I am getting so excited.
