Hi Tracy! We do seem to have a lot in common!! I look forward to getting to know you better. Your surgery is coming up soon! I'm excited for you. I know you're not looking forward to the 2 week liquid fast. I'm pretty sure nobody does! lol But, the way I see it, if I can do THAT, I can do anything.  And so can you! It will allllll be worth it when we're a year down the road and all those pounds are gone for good!! I'll be here to offer you moral support through it, if you'll do the same!

Have you tried the protein drinks yet? I have not. When I go to Dr. Glucks on Thursday I am sure I will get my fill. lol. I saw on one of your posts that you have to lose some weight first. Are you doing this with the shakes? If you have already started this who is cheaper? I know Dr. Gluck sells them but other than him I am not sure where to get them. I know his has extra protein but do you know if they are all the same? Maybe I should post this question on the main board. I have not seen anyone say a thing about price, and where to get them.

I bought some Pure Protein powder and a couple of kinds of protein bars to sample from Meijer, and I will substitute some meals for shakes, or a protein bar (I tend to skip meals, which is a no-no... I wind up STARVING by dinnertime, which tends to lead to me making bad choices - so if I can at least do a shake or bar, I'm doing good) Someone that I happened to run into who told me they had WLS said they really recommended trying different protein shakes NOW before surgery, so that I find one that I like. Many of the shakes sold at Meijer/Walmart, etc. are significantly less expensive than what they sell at Dr. Gluck's office - but that's not to say that I won't try that as well! Right now, my diet looks something like this... yogurt & fruit (usually banana) for breakfast... fruit or veggies with FF ranch snack... protein shake or bar for lunch (I tend to get busy and skip lunch)... cottage cheese or string cheese snack, maybe some fruit with it... then dinner I usually try to do something that works with what my family has easily and try to avoid carbs here as much as I can. Tonight, I didn't plan well (I have to work on that) and we wound up doing the fast food thing  but I had wendy's chili, so I think I did ok. If I am not losing enough doing it this way, I will do more protein shakes, but I prefer to eat while I can! haha

Hi Robin, I am also new to the forum. I had my lap band surgery on 12/12 and have lost about 30 pounds so far! It is really exciting. What type of surgery are you considering? The lap band is amazing and I haven't had any adverse complications.
