February Ice Skating

OK...I am planning the Ice Skating portion of our Feb. get-together.  Some others have mentioned going to a casino or dinner afterwards.  I am not familiar with the casinos or where to eat afterwards, but would certainly be open for that AFTER skating if someone else, familiar with the area could add that information. SO...on February 16th 2008, we will be meeting at The Pea**** Arena.  The ice rink is located at 18601 Middlebelt Rd.  Romulus, MI 48174 .   It is attached to the Summit Academy High School at the same address.  If you pull into the parking lot and go to the left, you will see the ice arena attached at the rear.  The public skating time is 2:30-4.   Skate rental is $2.00.  I believe admission is $5 (it may be $3.00 for a total of $5.00...I don't remember!).  After we skate, it would be great if we could all go out for dinner and fun.  So....someone else, who is familiar with the area, throw out some plans, ideas, etc.  Casino and dinner would be great!  Who is coming to the rink?  See ya there!  Tina Link to the ice arena:   http://www.peakarena.com/index.htm

I'm in for skating.....I'm going to bring my sulking teenage son.....and whatever after.  I will take surly teen home and trade him for wonderful DH to go out after if we can get a sitter. I'm all for hanging out afterwards, but the casino is a weird place to get together as a group.  You can't talk and you really just follow each other around and watch one or two gamble.  If that's where we decide to go, though, I'm in.  We have to get Paul to go, he's an awesome casino guide!

Any plans sound good to me but that is Valentines Day weekend so if something pops up I might have to cancel. I do not know what else to do afterwards besides dinner as a group. I loved going to Boogie Fever so a few of us can always head up that way if they want too.

The 23rd sounds great to me... I think alot of people might have plans on the 16th since it is the weekend after Valentines Day.

This always happens....when I first posted about this, the consensus was Feb. 16th, so that's why I kept it the 16th.  If you want to plan something on the 23rd, feel free...LOL!  Personally, I have A LOT going on right now with my mom's health issues (and my own surgery in Feb.).  So, I won't be taking surveys and what not to find out what date is good for everybody.  We tried to plan something in Nov and it never took place because a date could not be fixed.  So, I picked a date that everyone seemed to agree with a month or so ago.  It doesn't matter when we go to the rink.  On Saturdays, at 2:30 it is a public skate.  It's just a time and a place to meet for something fun to do.  After that, I'm not planning anything.  But I'm all up for going somewhere afterwards.  In Southgate is Snicker's Pool and Pub near the corner of Dix and Toledo. It's not terribly far from the rink, so maybe whoever wants to go, can go.  I kinda agree with Brenda.  The casino isn't someplace where we can all hang out like we did in Ferndale.  But I'm sure we'd still have fun.

If we say the 23rd then we'll get 10 posts about why we changed it and that the 16th was better...LOL  You can't please everyone all the time. My advice?  Keep it for the 16th and see who can show up.  If someone wants to plan another get together on another day, that's cool too. I'll even make a mailbox out of a paper bag in case I get any valentine's So Tina, if you're going to be there on the 16th then count me in.

Um...we use shoe boxes for our valentine's at school. Paper bags are so.....um...1980 or something....LOL!  Remember though, you need to make sure you give EVERYONE a valentine, even if they have cooties.  Actually, valentine's falls during our midwinter break so NO VALENTINE'S DAY party at school.....YEE HA!  Kids are CRAZY on Valentine's!  Maybe we should have a shoe box decorating get-together?  Let's see, I could do that sometime in March. You?  LOL! Anyway, I agree.  Keep it the 16th.  So far, I'm there!
