New to the MI board..

Hi Everyone.....well its nice to be on a board with all the MIchiganders!! Next Wed. is my day with Dr. Gluck. Surgery is in the a.m. so far unless they tell me something different the night before. I have been on the liquid diet. Its not easy, but I feel like I have lost some weight doing this. I am too scared to weight myself because I might be disappointed..I just don't want to worry about anything else if its not needed. I want to wish everyone of you a very successful journey...I will be back in touch with this wonderful support system. Colleen

Hi Colleen, Good luck with your surgery!   I had surgery with Dr. Gluck on November 26th, and everything went great.  Dr. Gluck is a great surgeon, so everything is going to go perfect for you.  Take care, and keep in touch.

welcome!  i still in the waiting stage.  I have my surgical consult 1/24 and then plan to submit my application to the insurance company (well, have surgeons office submit it).  Since my ins. company won't give me guidelines I don't know if I will qualify or not.  I'm currently doing a phys. supervised diet, but I don't know if or how long they require.  So until I'm told to stop or get approved I'll keep doing it! It used to be called PPOM but as on 1/1/08 it's called Cofinity.  I have a employer self funded plan, administered by a third party payer called ABS.

Hi, I am also new to this forum and messaging thing...I am hoping to have bypass surgery; my insurance is making me go through the mmpc medically supervised diet program. Not particularly looking forward to it...I go to the orientation seminar Saturday morning. Has anyone in here been on this diet? My insurance said they would waive the weight loss requirement, but I have to fulfill 80% attendance and at least try, then they will approve me for a surgical eval. That's as far as I got with two appeals. I live near Saugatuck, have a BMI of 39. I'm looking to meet friends and learn from everyone's experience. Thanks Penney
