HI, I';m hoping to talk to anybody with Juvenile Diabetis who has had or is thinking about surgery.  I think I want to go for it, but I haven't been able to find much info.  Anybody have any experience with this?  I am so lucky so far because I haven't had any major Diabetis complications, althought I've been D for almost 20 years, and if I keep going like I'm going, things aren't gonna stay so good.   Hope to hear from somebody! Kathy, I have been a Type I diabetic for 19 years now, I was diagnosed at 19.  I wasn't overweight, just the genes!  I am about 7 months post op from RNY.  And I was told I would ALWAYS HAVE DIABETES.  Of course unless there is a cure or I make some pancreas transplant list.  On the plus side, I was taking 250u of insulin per day [combined Nph and R]  and now I take 60 units total.  My last A1c was around 5 or 6.  You are welcome to visit my profile and add me as a friend.  I will share anything I can with you. Best of Luck

Thanks Belinda... I'm gonna add you as a friend.  I have some questions about what ya do after surgery and your blood sugar drops, and about adjusting you insulin as you lose weight.  My doc has pretty much said that I have to figure it out...and that makes me a little nervous.  Or maybe I just need a new doc.:)  anyways, thanks for replying...I will be picking your brain soon:) !
