Did anyone go to Sparrow Weight Management?

Why or why not? It seems there are a couple of people on here from the Lansing area but I dont see any discussion about Sparrow.  There are a couple from Owosso Memorial and several that went to Grand Rapids and I think one or two Ingham. Just wondering whats wrong with Sparrow.

Just because Sparrow patients do not come to this board, do not assume there is something wrong with Sparrow.  They may have their own message board, or maybe they provide such good support for their patients, they do not feel the need to come here.  Could be a number of reasons, so just do your research, meet the docs, and make your own decision.  This message board should only be for support and not advertisement for health care systems. 

I am going to SWM.  Am currently waiting for a surgery date, had to send to BCBS for precertification, insurance change on 1/1/08.  I like the them.  Good team.

I guess I shouldnt have said whats wrong with Sparrow.  I should have asked if there was a problem with them rather than assuming that the lack of information on here meant there was a problem. I agree that the message board is not a place for marketing but for support but part of support is the research and experience from others who have been there.  You learn from their successes and in cases, their failures. I went to the information session at Sparrow and I liked it.  So I was just wondering if there was something I was missing that others knew about. I have my medical evaluation on the 14th and I am really excited about it.  I first looked into WLS 2 yrs ago but had problems with the HMO we had at the time.  We have since relocated to MI from IL and have different insurance and I dont need the waiting period etc. So I hope to be having surgery in the spring.  I have decided on RNY because of other health issues that I do not think Lap-Band will correct.

I have been through the Sparrow Program.  I did Optifast last year-2006, and I have a surgery date of February 12th.  They are nice and knowledgeable and were very quick for me-getting appointments, etc.  I went to my first Bariatric information session at the end of October.  I think it is kind of a bummer that I will have to do Optifast again for 4 weeks, but the end result will be worth it.

Hi Laura! I live in Lansing but chose to go to MMPC in Grand Rapids.  I had my surgery over a year ago and at that time, there were some issues with Sparrow and Ingham.  Since that time, both hospitals have changed their programs and surgeons and I've only heard great things about them.  I know of several people from my support group that have gone to Sparrow recently and have nothing but praise for the program. Thanks Jen!  Thats the kind of things I was wondering.  The people I have talked to recently have nothing but good things to say and my experience, albiet limited, has been good.
