Turkey and beef jerky are so expensive!!!!!!!!

I decided to get "creative" and try to make my own turkey jerky.  (DH has a dehydrator and has made beef jerky in the past, but, since he makes it with ground beef.........I just don't care for it that much).   Sooooo....I bought a turkey breast, spent over an hour cutting it into thin slices, marinated it for 24 hours, and now have it in the dehydrator!  (Put it on around 4pm and DH thinks it's done already! I think it needs more time!)  Anyways.......between the cost of the turkey, the stuff to marinate  it, and my time to slice, prepare, and dehydrate this stuff...YIKES!!!!!!  NOW I KNOW why the stuff costs so much in the store!   I just hope mine comes out as good!!!!!!!!!!

btw.......DH thinks because I have 4 trays of the stuff that he's gonna eat some too!  HA!!!  NOT!!!!!!!!!!  My work.........my protein!!!!!    HANDS OFF BUDDY!!!!!!   (He can go make his own!)  Am I mean or what???   (IDK.......I love me some turkey jerky!!!!!!!!)

Have a great evening (or Friday.........depending on when you read this!!!!!!)

I used some Teriayaki, low sodium marinade mixed with some hot sauce, worchestire sauce and liquid smoke.  It came out pretty good!  I let it dry too long though so it's a little too tough.  I had it in the dehydrator for about 10 hours.......next time, if there is one.....I'll only let it got 7-8 hours.
