A late night Rave....and a late night Rant
So....as nice as it is being able to live by the ocean - sometimes being able to find things in stores is impossible without driving to Portland or Boston. For months I've been looking around here for Emerald cocoa roasted almonds without any luck. Well....my friend went away for the weekend and brought 2 jars back with him for me - those babies are so very, very good. I can't believe just how good they were - if you like chocolate and you like almonds - these are a must try.
My rant - and please don't be offended - this is just my personal feelings - I work in a credit card call center - talk to over a hundred people every day and it just drives me up a tree being called "dear" or "hun" by people who don't know me or don't know me personally - also - in checkout lines in stores or drivethru windows- anywhere - to me - dear or hun is a term of endearment and I don't really understand why a stranger or an aquaintance would say that to me. Can you tell that I've had several people do that to me today?

LOL, oh Hun, why don't you have yourself a glass of wine with those almonds. hehe, j/k I know what you mean and how you feel. It makes me feel like a 90 year old woman, "POOR me"I'm so frail... hey, you come to portland often? give me a buz, I"d love to go shopping with you, I'd meet you in Augusta if you want some time. Damn xmas shopping you know.
I really dont think any one is trying to offend you. It is a habit that lots have never thought about.
I use to say it all the time and then got a very bad jerk have a fit about it. Put me in tears.
I was surprised after that how often i would say it to strangers. But i broke that habit hun!!!
joking too. Have a great day

I know what you mean about nit having things locally. DH travels to Portland to the ethnic grocery stores for lots of his ingredients. We have stuff in the pantry and frig I don't even know what it's for. He likes to cook Thai, chinese, Japanese, Indian and anything else that suits his fancy.
I answer phones all day at work. My pet peeve is "you people did..... to me" Who is "you people" anyways? Other pet peeve phrases are " girls" when referring to a group of female adult co-workers. I lived in Texas for a while and got used to the "hon" and "dear" phrases.

I work with older people and most of them call me hun or dear or sweetie all the time. I've grown accustomed to it and I just let it go. (Some people calling me that though.....I don't know, it really gets on my nerves too.......other people....it's fine....go figure??!!)
I'll have to look for those almonds......I'm a sucker for chocolate and nuts!!!! (even after my "nutty" episode of a week ago!!!!!)
Have a great day!
