crushing meds

I'm having trouble getting my meds in because I have to crush them and can't seem to find anything that goes down with the taste of the pills.  My DH thought it would work in broth, nasty, then he tried vanilla yougart, nasty.  Tomorrow morning I'm trying choc pudding.  If anyone has any ideas on how to mask the taste of the crushed meds I would be forever grateful.  Other than that its been rough getting all the liquid in.  The protein has been going ok but all the liquid is hard but it is so worth it, I'm so happy to be on the losers bench.

hhmmmm.....sf pudding would have been my suggestion (are you allowed sf applesauce yet? I can't remember??)  How about a fruit flavored yogurt? (Light and fit carb control is pretty good)  I can't think of anything else. Sorry!!

Good luck!  It's hard to get all the fluids in at first...just keep sipping!  It gets easier as time goes on!

Welcome to the loser's bench!!!!!!

I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions. It always amazes me how different the docs are - I never had to crush any meds - started taking them in the hospital right after surgery in whole pill form.

I can only imagine how nasty that must taste - yuck!!!

I was thinking applesauce also. That's what nurses usually tell moms who are trying to give meds to children...or sherbert/sorbet that is sf if they make such a thing??

I won't have to crush any of my meds....take calcium, vit d and multi. The calicuim and multi will be a chewable and the vit. d is in a gel cap that I can puncture and get the liquid out.

What meds, honey?  If they are pain meds, call your surgeon and get liquid stuff, what else are you taking, now???

It was magic when she realized who she had become...

Peanut butter masks the taste of everything. Thats why so many protein bars and stuff are peanut or peanut butter stuff....

I am finding, suddenly.. years post op that my pills are causing me problems. when I take them, I get a pain in my pouch that also affects my ear?? I tried taking only a couple at a time, but I've slowly over the years added quite a few daily, plus I'm on pain management, so that's 8 pills a day right there. plus vitamin, b12, iron, heart medication, antidepressants, eeek! I tried breaking it down so I took them over the course of the day but it still happens sometimes. anyone else had this happen out of nowhere? yet I'm gaining weight and rarely feel full, I'm guessing the pills are getting stuck somewhere?
