2 week check up

Dh and I traveled to Bangor for my 2 appointments with the Nut and Dr. Toder,  2 week post surgery. The appointment went well. I have lost 9.5% of my excess weight in the past 2 weeks ( 13+pounds) which I am pleased with. The average is 10% at  this point.
My diet has been advanced to soft proteins, cooked veggies and soft/canned  fruits.  Yahoo! Since I am having a problem with protein drinks I will be off of them for at least a month. Amanda says that perhaps after a month's break from the protein drinks my pouch will like them again. I had tried protein drinks made with milk, made with water, different flavors, different brands soy or whey- it didn't matter. Amanda says this happens sometimes. My pouch is just tired of them and is protesting.
I had a good visit with Dr. Toder. She's pleased with my progress, My incisions are well healed. She gave me the OK to return to work on Monday, Oct 27 full time.

Oh my goodness! Food!!!
We went to Ruby Tuesday's for lunch. I ordered a quiche, chicken and broccoli and changed the salad for steamed no-butter broccoli. I had about 2-3 tablespoons of the quiche filling and 1 broccoli floret, plus about a spoonful of DH's cottage cheese. Just enough! (No flaming please- the quiche puff pastry was not eaten- just the inside)

Dinner- stopped at Wendy's in Belfast on the ride home after support group. Ordered a small chili w/ cheese. Ate around the kidney and pinto beans (not allowed yet) Had about 1/4 cup- yum.

So- I'm really a CHEAP date- I have 3/4 of the chili left over and about 3/4 of the quiche and all but 1 broccoli in a "to'go "box in the frig.
Pouchy was VERY happy

Work- you know that's a 4 letter word- LOL.  I did have to get up at 5:30 yesterday to get ready. Oh no, back to that again.....I'd rather be home- just mail me my paycheck

Yeah!  I look forward to being a cheap date!  Glad to hear you are doing well, great weight loss since you have already lost so much. You couldn't talk the Dr. into another week at home?

Dr Toder and I talked about return to work date. Originally I thought today- BUT with the advance to food I wanted to be home to try foods out here before venturing into the big world. She thought Monday was reasonable.

I''m sure had I said I want the full 6 weeks off she'd have signed my return note for that.  I'm feeling fine AND DH has the same surgery Dec 1 and I need to retain some vacation time for his surgery.

sounds like all is going well. It amazes me how different the same program is with the same doc - they didn't want me doing protein shakes as I progressed. I do occassionally - and it is fine now, I don't have problems
