Scrambled egg! Yahoo!

Who would have thought I'd get excited about a scrambled egg?  It was so good.

I have not had a bite of solid food since Monday, Sept 22- that's 30 days ago. The past 4 days I have been having a real problem getting in all of my liquid proteins. My pouch has decided to protest after drinking about 1/4 to 1/3 cup of them. It's not that I don't like the drinks, but pouchy has decided to misbehave, give me the dry heaves, vomit, burp, gag, foamies, you name it when I drink the protein drinks. I phoned the Nut who gave me permission to have a scrambled egg for dinner.

I ate 1/2 of a scrambled egg- my Chocolate lab ate the rest. Pouchy was VERY well behaved and happy with that

The Nut says I may have become resistant to the protein drinks. Has anyone ever heard of this?
Tomorrow is my 2 week post op check with the Nut and Dr. Toder. Soft proteins here I come I purchased some chunk white tuna, those pouches of tuna with lemon and pepper, cottage cheese today. I'm looking forward to this new menu.

I've never heard of people becoming resistant to the protein drinks, but who knows?   Glad the scrambled egg worked out well for you!  Soft foods...here you come!  It'll be a great feeling! (Much better than that "dry heaves, vomit, burp, gag, foamies, you name it"...that you listed!)

Good luck with your 2 week check up!  Hope all is well!  Let us know!

I can imagine how good that must have tasted.  My mother had her surgery on Sept. 15th and I remember how excited she was when she could eat an egg.

Hey Emily - that would be me - me who would have thought you'd get excited about a scrambled egg.....'cause I was there - never knew an egg could taste so good!!!

Hmmm....resistant to protein drinks - I hadn't thought of that - I did however go through the same thing with the heaves, I thought it was just the sweetness of them getting to me after 4 weeks. I will occasionally drink a protein drink now - but I couldn't for about 4 months afterwards.

OHHH   the egggg!!!  I thought it was heavenly   and ate enuf of them in  a couple of months that my pouch   or maybe my head  couldn't eat them  I just started eating eggs again a couple months ago..  Same thing with chicken  just wouldn't go down.    Cottage cheese is still a staple with me and  greek style yogurt.

Have a great day!!!

Just to check it out try a different kind of protein drink so if you have Soy now switch to Whey. First thoough if you are mixing them in Milk try mixing them with Water or vice versa.  Also make sure the protein drink you have is 5 grams of sugar, and fat or less. You could be dumping it the sugar or fat are too high. Hope that helps I know not all the nuts out there are trained specifically for bariatric patients. Take a look at the label on your protein mix.

"The Incredible, Edible Egg"  I"ve always hated eggs, still do, but let me tell you I actually thought that first egg was great, I thought for sure my taste had changed, but no, I"m back to not liking them.  Congratulations and enjoy your new diet Stage...

after a few weeks on protein shakes they made me sick too. i had to switch to a soy based instead of whey based. it has to do with lactose. a few weeks later i'm ok with them. i can drink milk again too. it's weird what our bodies go thru.

food is heaven sent after a month of liquids and purees. congrats on advancing to the next stage. it gets better from her. funny how an egg feels like you've eaten a thanksgiving dinner. before i could eat several at a sitting. i'm 8 months out and 1 egg still fills me up.
