Question about days leading up to surgery for those who had Dr. Loggins
Hmm let me see if I remember. They will fill you in on all the fun stuff for post op. You will get your scripts to get filled prior to surgery. So you do not need to stop on your way home from the hospital. The pre admittance will consist of a chest xray an ekg and bloodwork if I remember right it has been awhile and not sure my memory is totally there anymore lol It was no big deal really. Nothing to stress over for sure. It will be here before you know it.
I would let the Dr. know about your recent EKG, x-rays- they may allow this as it is within 6 months prior to surgery.

You're getting so close! It'll be here before you know it!
At the meeting with Dr Loggins, you will sign the consent for surgery and he'll review all the possible things that could happen. I know he talked to me about scar tissue alot (I had had 3 c-sections and gallbladder removal years ago, so it WAS an issue for me!) He also asked if I'd want a lap band or open RNY IF he couldn't do the lap RNY...we talked about options and stuff.
Crystal gave me scripts for the Lovenox, antibiotics, reviewed the 2 day pre-op prep (not fun!), how to do the lovenox injections, use of the incentive spirometer and stuff like that. Corinne reviews the post-surgical diet, just in case you have questions.
At the hospital, the nurse just asked a bunch of questions about health history. I DID have to have another EKG, but when I told her I had a chest xray just 2-3 month before surgery, she didn't send me for another one...so let them know! I also had to have bloodwork. Expect to be there for a few hours for it all to be done! It's really no biggie though! (I think I have more info, if you want more details, on my blog....just go back to the April posts!)
If you've met your weight loss goal, you probably won't have to do the 2 weeks of protein prior to surgery...they probably already would have told you if you DID! The Saturday before surgery is all liquids and then on Sunday....bowel prep and clear liquids! It's not fun, but it SURE IT worth it!!!!!
Congrats and let us know if you have any other questions!

I think Ruth said it all to a "T", I just went through it all myself this past week. Don't plan on going anywhere on Sunday the bowel prep is pretty time consuming, you will stay pretty close to the bathroom that day. Best of luck to you, I won't be around for a few days, I'm off to surgery in the morning.
