When to return to work??
The latest question going around in my head is this.
I see the nut and Dr. Toder next Tuesday Oct 21 for my 2 week follow-up appointments. Originally I was all set to request returning to work on Wednesday the 22nd. The Nut will be advancing my diet to soft foods. This is concerning to me, as I have learned how much to sip, drink and keep my pouchy happy and not too full. Adding food- yikes!
I'm now thinking I should not return to wor****il Monday, Oct 27th and take the 22-26 to get used to adding foods at home. I'm on family medical leave now, eligible for up to 12 weeks unpaid leave- so extending my return by 3 days will not an issue with work. Today is day # 7 of FML. Do you think this is a wise request?
If you were me what would you do? Suggestions please.
Also how did you deal with work and adding new foods?

for me - this is where it started to get hard, when I added foods. The first 2 weeks were a breeze. Again, this is what happened to me - I had nausea 24x7, along with vomiting - nothing could be related to anything I ate or how I ate or what quantity I ate - this all knock the stuffing out of me. I was grateful for the time I had off, although mine was a paid leave with std - I took 6 weeks.
Emily I was scared to death to start eating. If you can possibly take more time off from work I would do it. You are still recovering even though you may feel great. Id go another couple weeks and get the eating down before you have to go back to work. The worst thing I can think of is eating something that makes you sick and your at work. Give yourself time to adjust. Just my opinion I don't work outside the home so I can't really tell you what you should do. Maybe you could start back with half days?? Good luck with figuring it all out.
I took all 6 weeks that the surgeon suggested. Each stage is a challenge. I recommend not going back til you can eat regular foods. I totally enjoyed my time off. It was "me" time and I needed to focus on using this awesome new tool to its best. I found going back to work a challenge in getting my fluids in. It is hard to focus on work but also eating correctly. It takes a lot of planning to make it all work. I would take as much time off as you can. Your body is still healing and you don't want to over do it.
I stayed out 5 weeks, and I agree the stages are challeniging and I didn't want to be figuring it out at work...
Up to you, tho, you know your situation bettr than any of us does, we all do what we have to do...just if you can stay home longer, I would...
hugs to you!
