A wonderful day in Presque Isle
Hey All
Just wanted to check in with everyone, what a beautiful day it was here in Presque isle today, even though there are not too many leaves left!
I went online and ordered some chewable vitamins and stuff from Bariatric advantage, has any one tried those? I hate the Flintstones ones. Also have my Unjury all set, I love it now I hope I don't hate it after surgery, and my davinci sugar free syrups Did your tastes change much after surgery??
I have also tried and loved Lite muscle milk has a little more protein than the unjury and it tastes really good! Does anyone mix different brands to get a good taste?
So many questions!
Hi there!
It was beautiful down here in L/A too! A little breezy, but a great day for field hockey and football games! WOOHOO!!
I ordered some of the Bariatric advantage chewable iron tabs and they were pretty good. I still use the Centrum chewables and it seems as though my day isn't complete unless I chew on those two vitamins! I STILL like them! haha!
My tastes changed some after surgery. I had a "spell" where I couldn't drink just plain water (I tried all kinds of Crystal light and other flavors so I could get my water in) and then, just like that, I'm drinking plain water again! Go figure! Just don't buy too much of any ONE thing just in case your tastes DO change! (just my opinion)
Unjury chicken soup was one of my favorite protein powders post-op. I loved their chocolate too. I also really liked the Syntrax Nectar chocolate truffle protein mix! That's my all time fav!!! (If you email the syntrax company, they'll send you some free samples...this is the one I like: www.si03.com/shop/shopexd.asp ) I tried the muscle milk but didn't really care for it (still have some in the fridge) Eggface has some wonderful protein shake recipes on her blog theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ You should check her blog out!
Good luck! Hope some of this helps! Let us know if you have more questions!

I agree about the unjury chicken soup- A nice change from cold shakes. Also the Campbell's Healthy request cream soups are good and allowed on our program. I have found that to keep the soups warm for the 30 min of eating them I use a metal thermal mug. Seems to keep hot through the meal.
If you like custards we are allowed a homemade SF custard. Here's the one I made yesterday.
1 cup skimmed milk
1 egg- I used 1/4 cup eggbeaters
sweetner 2-3 packets
pinch salt
1/4 teasp. vanilla.
Stir together. put in 2 glass custard cups. Place cups in a pan w/ 1 inch of water. bake at 350 30-35 min. Use as a protein snack- one custard cup = 1/2 protein shake.
Hope these suggestions help.

I found my tastes in protein shake changed dramatically post surgery. I add some sugar free syrups (caramel being my favorite) to make them taste better - after surgery I couldn't tolerate Unjury at all.
