I'm new

Hi everyone...I'm Shelly.  I'm waiting patiently to hear when my RNY surgery will be.  I have completed all the requirements and at my dietician appointment yeterday I learned that my case was being reviewed at some point during the day.  How long was it before you heard when your surgery date would be?  Any answers would be awesome!  I hate waiting for things.  I am getting anxious to start my new life as a more healthier, skinnier me!

Welcome to the OH board, I know it seems like such a long process but you will have your date in no time.  I can't tell you how long it will be because I believe that every insurance is different at getting the approval done.  I know mine was exceptionally long but there are some that only take a matter of days.  Best of luck to you.

You should hear from the office if they approve you for surgery and then they will submit to your insurance.  Shouldn't be long now!!   Good luck and welcome!

Thanks for the replies.  I have Tricare for insurance so I know that it will be covered.  I'm just so so ready to do this.  Christmas is right around the corner and I want to be well on my way to recovery by then AND have an excuse to go clothes shopping! lol

Hi Shelly!  WELCOME!   I called the day after the team met because I was so impatient!  It was just a matter of days before I was approved and got a surgery date.  It felt like it took FOREVER though!  (I'm very impatient!!)   It's all well worth the wait though!!!!!!

Welcome to the board!!! Nice to meet ya. I had a different doc - so my timing may be different as well - but it was about 6 weeks from the time they filed my insurance request to the time I had my surgery.

Please feel free to ask any questions you want.

I was hoping they would call today but I didn't hear anything. I like to be able to plan for it....maybe tomorrow.  I know Tricare will approve it; I'm hoping for surgery around the first week of November.

Welcome aboard Shelly. Nice to have you here. Crossing my fingers for you with getting your date soon. I know when I had my surgery it was not even 10 days once I had my ins approval til surgery, But know Dr Loggins is much busier now. Best wishes. Don't hesitate to ask any questions one of us should have an answer or at least send you in the right direction.

Welcome to the Maine board Shelly. It shouldn't take long for your doctor's approval and them the insurance approval. I was so anxious I contacted my insurance company (Anthem) and asked. They had approved and were in process of sending the letters to me and my surgeon, Then is was the wait for a surgical date- I wanted everything done right here, right now!
But in the end I am glad I took what it did. I was able to really wrap my mind around this surgery, to encounter the emotional times and re-think how to deal with my emotions in a non-food way.
