Adult ADHD
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with ADHD specifically in Adults. I have felt like I have this for some time now, and have never been diagnosed. I can't even read more then 2 sentences without loosing all concentration. Long jokes, poems, articles that should interest me. I can't do it. I've been to classes, trainnings, my mind is gone. I'm washing windows, thinking about what to cook for supper. Anyway, my question is, I would rather avoid any meds, and read an article (or part of) about having a ADHD Coach. do any of you have any knowledge of this? I would like to have information to present to my PCP at my next visit. I would love to learn about our finances, (I don't even know how to balance my checkbook), read and understand what I sign, articles, Newpapers, and maybe even a book some day. All of which I never learned, I never could learn my times table as a child, I'm so affraid that some day, if something happends to my DH, I would have to rely on my kids, and they don't understand, like my mom, always just thought I was lazy or stupid. MY DH is the only one who believes me. without him, I would be so alone.
I would appreciate any help. thanks
P.S. It is very hard to open up and admit to being this stupid, You must be pretty special for me to do this, this is why I like being alone, I'm affraid people will catch on to me...

I am adhd but i am opposit I am compulsive so if i read then i read!!!! the whole book as fast as i can get it done. I loved school so i channeled all my energy towards learning.
I never had any medicine but have asked about it as it would be nice not to be a procrastinator.
which i am terribly.
But they wont give me medicine at my age as i have channeled my energy in to positive ways.
I need my brain to work 100 miles an hour to be happy.
I am sorry that you have had a hard time learning things. That is my grandsons problem and medicine has helpd him channel and stay on task. After all these years they have started giving my son medication so that he can keep a job. and he has done just that. He can even read better now and does read magazines not sure about books but at least it is a start.
Hope you find out the info you need.
Going a hundred miles an hour is my problem I self medicated all those years with cigarettes and for a bit booze.
But dont do either of those now. so My medication is the internet when i am lonely and tired of house work lol.
Have a great day
I am lazy today no exercise yet lol

Cheryl, I was told at one point that I may have ADHD. I feel like I do quite often lately. I have a hard time at work staying focused on one task. I have so many different projects going at one time and can never seem to stay focused enough to finish one. I have been thinking about talking to my PCP about meds for it. My 12 year old has it and has been on meds since 3rd grade. I was really hesitant to put him on meds, but am amazed at the difference. Before he was on meds, he was below grade level in reading, because he couldn't stay focused. after meds, and almost within the first 6 months, he jumped to above grade level in reading! I am definately not pushing the meds, but it seems to work, as long as you have the right med for the right person and not over medicate.
I have never heard of a coach. Let us know how it goes.
