Ok dearies, Like many of you, I have been fighting constipation since the surgey and have taken a stool softener every few days to help. Now that I am off all restrictions I can add fiber to my diet and it will likely improve. But in the meantime, I seem to have torn something internally. I felt it happen this morning and there was blood in the toilet. No blood on tissue so I know it is internal, but because it is internal, I have no idea how to treat it and it is very painful. This happened to me once before years ago and I just waited it out, but I wondered if any of you have had this probelem since surgery and if so, how you got relief. It is very very painful. If I say that one more time, will you believe me??? VERY VERY PAINFUL! Do suppositories work? Tucks do nothing because it is inside. Your help would be so very much appreciated!

You should call your Surgeon and see if they can prescribe you something and let them know what is going on with you as well

I second that- call the surgeon. It may be something simple- or something that needs attention.

Surgeon says to call my PCP...it has nothing to do with the surgery. I emailed her and hope to hear back. If I don't, I will drive to rite aid and get some over the counter stuff, I guess.

dr. loggins told me to use milk of magnesia for constipation. thank goodness i haven't had to use it.

get some fiber in your diet even if you have to use the stuff from rite aid. i think they have fiber chewables.

good luck and hope you feel better. i'm glad you called your doctor. you don't want to take any chances on really being hurt.

YIKES!  I'm late chiming in...but I'd have called the doc too!  Hope your PCP can give you something.  Over the counter...colace, MOM, stuff like that. But you probably need something to "calm" things down....hope your PCP has an answer for you soon!  Keep us posted!   Hugs! Ruth

Late jumping in here, and my answer isn't for the squeamish either, sounds like you burst a hemmoroid or fissure, which bled for awhile and then stopped.  Hard BM and straining etc cause them and aggravate them.  If they get bad enough there is surgery for them, like stipping a vein.  When I had a colonoscopy they "tied off"  2 or 3 HR's and that was so painful but so glad it was done then.  The heavier I got the more probs I had.
Start eating apples, drink some(watch the sugar) cider-water it down- and colace more often...
good luck...

It was magic when she realized who she had become...
