SO I AM JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE PICKED UP SMOKING AFTER LIKE A YEAR AFTER SURGERY? I KNOW THAT WE ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO AND THEY WONT OPERATE UNTIL YOU KICK THE HABIT.

I'm 7 1/2 months out and I gave it up the day of surgery - I can tell you the butts are a million times harder to get over for me - I want them every single day. For me though it wasn't about getting skinny - it was all about getting healthy and although I don't agree with everything that is said about the ills of smoking, the bottom line is they aren't healthy - so why go through all of this to start smoking again?

That being said, where I work there are many people who have been through the surgery - there is one woman who started back up smoking again the day she left the hospital. Again why go through all of this to start smoking again?

The  new  groups at Bangor that are  going into the program now will not be seen unless you can prove you do not smoke.

My son was denied  because his records said  he was a smoker.   He had to take a serum nicotene blood test  to prove he  was not smoking.

The dietician told me it was because  of  all the people that go back to smoking after   the surgery and then  have   post op problems from the smoking and the wls.

They have so many  people  looking into the surgery  now that they can be fussy and  exclude   a group  that  does not want to conform.

I am glad i quit  7 years  ago and do not  have the urge to go back  to that disgusting habit.

Have a great day!!!

I"m going to try this again, I already posted but it got lost in space.   anyway,  Dr. Loggins requires 3 mo. of no smoking, i'm sure you know that.  I have seen and read that alot of people do go back to smoking after wls.  My personal opinion is why? financially and healthwise.  after 3 or 4 months of going without.  You can do it,  i'm sure cutting out 2 bad habits at the same time must be hell.  One is enough fo me.  Best of Luck to you, hang in there.  Hugs, Cheryl
