Heyyy Cheryl,
Thanks so much for thinking of me/us and asking! As for me, I am doing pretty well! I have been doing some walking lately... I wore my pedometer for the first time the other day and hit 5,000 steps but I have to wonder if it is accurate because it moves with almost ANY movement. I can hold it in my hand and bend my arm at the elbow and then extend my arm fully and the numbers change a bit, lol! Is that NORMAL for pedometers?? Also, I was looking back at my test results for cholesterol etc, from back in 2005 (i didn't save the earlier ones) and since then I've lowered EVERYTHING---HDL, LDL, total cholesterol, triglycerides, etc. All lowered 9 or more points. So progress--slow but sure!
It helps because I'm really giving up on WLS. Dr Loggins office and Medicare haven't yet worked things out (Apparently this is Medicare's issue?) and so the doctor doesn't do surgery on medicare patients right now. I'm thinking I'm just gonna have to try and do the best I can on my own because I don't have any other insurance and I'm not putting my life on hold "just in case" I might have surgery.
Anyway.....as far as Anne goes, I'm not quite sure what's up there. I haven't heard from her and usually we talk daily--or at least every other day. I hope she is just busy and not ill or anything!  Warmly, Lori

Hey Lori, great hearing from you and even better hearing your doing so well walking and your #'s are getting lower.  I have no clue about Pedometers, I'm affraid to use one cause I can use any excuse not to walk and if I take so many steps I might not go for a walk.  So have you thought of caller other dr's?  I know transportation might be a problem, but, there isn't very many dr's visits anyway, just lots of pre op test.  maybe which could be done right here in Lewiston.  Anyway, just a thought, sounds like your doing well on your own.  i'm sure you can find a support group on line that isn't so hard for you (I mean, everyone on here has had wls and is loosing crazy fast and could be frustrating for you).  no matter what you decide, I am here for you, you can call any time and would still love to meet you for coffee.  next few weeks are a little busy for me, but I will keep in touch with you.  AS for Anne, all I know is she hurt her back a few weeks ago, I hope she is ok.  Plus her son is left for college and others started school so i'm sure she is busy.  DOes she still work on plays??? maybe is she does, Lori, I would love to go see one, I'd be happy to go get you if you came with me. what you think??  maybe dinner first.  thanks for responding and keep up the wonderful work,  You can do this, just make small changes and it will show.   Hugs, cheryl

Hey Cheryl,
I chatted with Anne today... All is well, she has just been busy with Jon in college now and her work schedule, plus she sings for weddings and funerals fairly regularly too.
I guess when I posted back I was just pretty discouraged with things not falling into place as quickly and as smoothly as I'd hoped. I tend to be one that gets impatient with myself and wants results "yesterday?"  Actually, you gave me a good idea... Perhaps another doctor might be the answer. (I hear Dr. Toder is also very good and accepts Medicare?) I hadn't thought about the very good possibility that I wouldn't need to go to her office all that often and just maybe could do all my testing here in Lewiston. That shines some new light on things...  I'd just have to figure out how to get to Bangor but that shouldn't be a major problem since I could always "go greyhound" lol! Wonder how far she is from the bus station? (Or Hollywood Slots--could always do a pit stop there as well heeheehee! )  Anyway.... I'd love to meet for coffee or lunch/dinner sometime. I'd just need to plan ahead so I could budget it in (Guess that rules out Hollywood Slots, eh? ) I'm sure Anne would like to get together too sometime. I'll mention it to her as well. Thanks again for writing! Lori

there you go toots, we'll figure something out.  hey instead of going out to eat, how about a picnic lunch at Bates pond or near lake auburn.  I"ll pack the lunch.  we can always work things out.  There is also dr's in Augusta, ???

Hey Cheryl,
Either/or is fine---out to eat is always enjoyable but so is nature--minus the bugs lol. I have an intense dislike of bugs but I ain't worried. It doesn't stop me from living!
Anne and I are supposed to get together sometime this week so I will also mention it to her and see if she'd like to join us at some point in the near future.
Hope all is well on your end, Lori
