ok, so I have been having this terrible pain for a few months now. Finally talked to the dr about it, and he sent me for a sono. SO the results are back and the DR says that I have stones and it has to come out. I am scared bunches. Like how bad is this? Anybody had this done?

I had my gallbladder removed back in 2002. I thought that surgery was a piece of cake. Mine was laparoscopic outpatient surgery, only 3 small incisions, and I was back to work in a week, though I probably could have gone back sooner. It's a breeze compared to WLS!

I can't be of much help here 'cause mine came out when I had my WLS.   Dr Sofronski takes the gall bladder at the same time even if it's 'healthy' because there are so many post op issues with the gall bladder.

Good luck, hope you get some relief soon.

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Hi there sweetie,

You will most likely have lap surgery and it will be a really quick recovery.  My friend had it done by lap and I wish that was me.  Becasue back in 1993 I had it removed my situation was really complicated and my liver got infected because i had a stone blocking the bile ducts so I  had to get the open surgery.

You will do great and will be back up on your feet in no time. Let us know when you will be having surgery.

Hugs,

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

I hade mine taken out with my RNY. It was laproscopic and was no problem. It did not add any extra time to my hospital stay. I bounced back from the RNY/gall bladder removal rather quickly.

I think you will do just fine.

Best Wishes!

i still have mine and it's full of stone but it doesn't irritate me so they opted to leave it in there.  I'm sure along the way I will have to have mine out as well.  My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of uncertainty.

Hey honey. My sis just had this done. They do it laproscopic like the RNY and go in through your belly button. She was home the next day. Im sorry you have to go through this. (((Hugs)))
I still have mine and I am on Actigall to prevent gallstones. I wish you all the best.

Thank you all so much for your words. It means a bunch to me!
I guess I am just a big ole chicken. But I am more scared of this surgery than than I was of the RNY.
