WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE......?
Sorry, but I HATE that song. I appreciate the thought behind it, but back in 2003, my Mom was hospitalized to have 1/2 of her left lung removed due to cancer. They discovered the tumor on November 11, and she was scheduled for surgery on December 9. I was a miserable mess that whole time - crying all the time, everywhere - driving, showering, cleaning, cooking, on the phone, in stores, etc. I tried hard not to cry TOO much around her because I knew she had to be freaking out, too. It seems like I heard that song SO much during that time, and now I just can't listen to it.
Turns out that we got a Christmas miracle that year. Although 3 tests and 2 specialists conclusively said it was cancer, the pathology came back - NO cancer - just scar tissue. Of course, she STILL had the 1/2 lung removed because they couldn't biopsy it. She was supposed to come home a week after surgery, ended up staying for 3 weeks and came home on oxygen with chest tubes at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
I can'****ch the movie, either!!!!!

Of the hymns, I think Oh Holy Night and What Child Is This are my favorites. I also love Ave Maria but I hear this all year round as well as Christmas.
Of the others, I have to break it down into the serious and the fun ones:
Serious - White Christmas
Fun - The Chipmunk Song ( I used to have this record when I was little and would play it constantly. Rudolph - I remember learning all of the names of the reindeer just so that I could sing it right many, many Christmases ago. Crabs for Christmas - Simply makes me smile.
There are so many more. When I was school age, I had a book with the words of many Chriastmas Songs. I used to sit on my bed at night, with just the light from the candles in the window and sing one after the the other (my poor parents!).
Hey! Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
It's Dominick the donkey.
Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
The Italian Christmas donkey.
(la la la-la la-la la la la la)
(la la la-la la-la la-ee-oh-da)
Santa's got a little friend,
His name is Dominick.
The cutest little donkey,
You never see him kick.
When Santa visits his paisons,
With Dominick he'll be.
Because the reindeer cannot,
Climb the hills of Italy.
Hey! Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
It's Dominick the donkey.
Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
The Italian Christmas donkey.
(la la la-la la-la la la la la)
(la la la-la la-la la-ee-oh-da)
Jingle bells around his feet,
And presents on the sled.
Hey! Look at the mayor's derby,
On top of Dominick's head.
A pair of shoes for Louie,
And a dress for Josephine.
The labels on the inside says,
They're made in Brooklyn.
Hey! Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
It's Dominick the donkey.
Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
The Italian Christmas donkey.
(la la la-la la-la la la la la)
(la la la-la la-la la-ee-oh-da)
Children sing, and clap their hands,
And Dominick starts to dance.
They talk Italian to him,
And he even understands.
Cumpare sing,
Cumpare su,
And dance 'sta tarantel.
When sannanicola comes to town,
And brings du ciuccianello.
Hey! Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
It's Dominick the donkey.
Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
The Italian Christmas donkey.
(la la la-la la-la la la la la)
(la la la-la la-la la-ee-oh-da)
Hey! Dominick! Buon Natale!
