Who had an EGD?

Has anyone had to get a test done before surgery called an EGD? It is a scope that goes down your throat to your intestines? Just reading about it online gave me the heebie jeebies!!! My surgeon is doing mine next week to make sure I am clear for surgery. He is doing this because I have SEVERE heartburn. I cant imagine that scope/camera going down my throat. Has anyone had it done? What exactly is the twilight sedation? Aaron did you or Lisa Z have to have this done by Dr K too? I hope they KNOCK ME OUT! LOLOL ~Jilly~

Don't worry, sweetie!!!  My Dad's had TONS of them.  Twilight sedation ensures that while you might be awake to converse, and THINK you know what's going on afterward, you'll have NO recollection of it.  Trust me.  My Dad's the biggest wuss in the world and there's never been a problem.  You won't feel it, know it's there and afterward, although they've probably told you you can't drive yourself home, you'll be fine.

Just look at it as a means to an end - the end being approved!!!

It'll be fine!!!

Love,

Tia

Trust me, the last thing you should remember is the doctor starting the IV.  After that, Jilly-La-La-Land!!!

Oh, and YES, my Dad's the BIGGEST wuss!!!  And the WORST patient, too!!  But I still love him!!

Holding your hand,

Tia

Jilly:

I didn't have to have one done, but I'm pretty sure that Aaron did.  Remember, it's just nerves and "this too shall pass."

If that is the endoscopy, the nI had it done. And I had my Colonoscpy at the same time - both ends!!!!! Anyway, my fears beforehand were totally unfounded. I had no issues, no memories, no pain, no side effects. You will be fine!

Hey Deb!  Mom just had the double whammy procedure done on Monday following up from her issue in September.  Everything looked fine and her liver enzymes are back to normal.

Revised to VSG (6/11/09) weighing 253...

I can remember all that blood they drew.  I didn't know I had so much in me.  Yes, I had the gallbladder scan and I had to do an upper gy twice.  They lost my first one, so I got down to the day before surgery and I was repeating the test and had to make sure that the results were faxed to Dr. K's office or he wouldn't do the surgery the next day.  Luckily everything worked out.  So, I guess you had your seminar.  Was there anyone else there with you having surgery on the same day?  I had someone with me and it was kinda cool, although we haven't kept in touch after the surgery, it was crazy knowing someone else was sharing in my day.  There is a book that they recommend that you get.  I have it, if you would like to borrow it, PM me and I'll send it to your address.
It's really happening!!!  I'm so happy for you!
