The Hosp Wants more Money

OK my dad surgery is this Friday. They hosp. called today and told my mom that they  need more money up-front, then what they were told before. It was 1200. and now they want 800. More.  (WTF) We had just enough money to house payment and get the 1200 together.  My Dad want in his room and just didn't talk to any of us. Come on the days before have to be hard and scary. Now this! Life just is ......... 
 
Keep in prayer my Dad and that we find 800. by Friday.

Call them back and explain how hard it was to come up with the original amount and see what they say. If you do not like their answer ask to speak to their supervisor..keep going higher and higher until you get what you want.

WHAT? OMG! I have never ever heard of someone needing to pay for a service BEFORE THEY GET THE SERVICE! That is shady! I would contact a lawyer because something is fishy!!! Good Luck to your Dad. I was a self pay for my WLS.  I had to pay everything in advance.  In fact I recieved a bill a few weeks later for my shortage of 1800.00.

Surgery was costly and the expense was expected as I knew what I was walking into.  But, it was well worth it.

OMGO****hat is just crazy IMO. I would never pay sight unseen even for a medical procedure. But then again I cant imagine paying for one out of pocket. I am blessed to have Federal insurance because with this bypass all I will pay is one 100.00 copay. THANK GOD> LOL ~Jilly~

Go directly to the social worker in the hospital thats assinine, you might or he might qualify for chairity care , does not make any sense

I agree, WTF??  You definitely need to make some calls and when you do, make SURE you document who you spoke to, what they said, etc.
