Hello everyone I am so happy to get Dec 11 as a surgery date for the lapband.  I met with Dr Gary Harrington on Wednesday and on that day they gave me a date I was shocked.  I still have to get approved by my insurance but I don't think that will me a problem (cross your fingers).  I will have all my test done in a few weeks and I will be on my way.  I guess December 11th will be my new Birthday

Any suggestions?

Thats awesome news about the date!! Here is hoping you have a easy approval process. I had arm surgery at Holy Cross a few years ago and loved that hospital!!!

WONDERFUL NEWS!!!!!  Not sure of what your nutrition guidelines will be immediately post-op, so if you want to let me know, I can probably give you more suggestions.

In the meantime, you might want to stock up on water, some protein drink samples (you can get them at www.unjury.com, www.bariatriceating.com or www.vitalady.com), Crystal Light or other brands of s/f drink mixes, some soups, etc.  I would caution you to only buy a little at a time - you may not like everything and don't want to waste any $$!  Also, find out what your vitamin requirements will be and prepare for that.

As far as going to the hospital, the only thing I took was shampoo (I washed my hair in the sink the day after surgery! lol), some lip balm, some magazines, some comfy clothes for the ride home and a pillow for the ride home.

Other than that, sit back, strap yourself in and get ready for the ride!!!!  And of course, make sure you keep us posted!!!

Hugs,

Tia

Dr Harrington told me to I don't have to but he suggest do that I don't have to get the big cut for surgery.  I did order some sample from Unjury but I will check out the other site now.  I do have one question though what is the best s/f drink mixes that are good with a nice taste.  Thank for all you advise

Well, there are LOTS of s/f drink mixes out there now - my personal faves, based on taste and $$, are the Walmart brand (Great Value), which are similar in taste to Crystal Light, but much cheaper.  My fave, and actually, the only flavor I drink when I can find it, is the apple.  It tastes like apple cider to me - and I love it hot, too!  Then, of course, there's Crystal Light, Hawaiian Punch, Kool-Aid - all of which make s/f drink mixes - canisters AND individual tubes.

HTH,

Tia

Congratulations on your re-birthday!!!  I think the only thing that wasn't on the list from my dr.s office was a pill crusher.  Make sure you pick up one.  And as for me, I love the sugar free Hawaiian punch.
