1st Fill coming up...
Okay, I'm scheduled for my first fill on September 6th. Can anyone share their experiences with your first fill? What should I expect? Is there a special diet each time you get a fill? Any information will be appreciated~

Hola! My experience has always been pleasant. They weigh me first then I am taking into a room where I am standing against an x-ray machine...the assistant sprays some numbing spray on my port site and the doctor inserts a needle with liquid (saline). He then has me drink some barium which can be seen go to my stomach thru the xray...there he knows whether I should have more or less of a fill. He takes the needle out and puts a bandaid. The whole procedure has never taken more than 3 minutes for me. He has me then stick around the office for about 10 minutes after make sure I can get liquids down. No special diet after words. Just remember your first fill may give you a little restriction, no restriction at all or just the right amount. Good luck !
I am 6 months post-op and just had my second fill on Tuesday. I've never been told to eat anything different beforehand. My Dr has me lay back on the table and with my hands behind my head, hold a sit-up to tighten the muscle. Then he puts the needle in. I'm not good with needles, but I don't even feel it AT ALL. Shortly afterward, I had to drink some water to make sure I can get it down.
After a fill, I was instructed to have liquids for 48 hours, then mushies for another 2 days. I'm sure there are variations with each surgeon, so be sure to follow whatever your Dr's instructions are.
The whole thing is really no big deal. You'll do great!!!

Same as barbara!! If you happen to have belly fat like I do they first feel around on your belly-which can hurt a bit as it's still tender and healing from suregery-especially 4 weeks out. Then do a real tight hold of abdomen and they can usually find it. My 3rd fill I was stuck 2x because she didn't hit it right. My first 2 were from my surgeon-no issues except for the probing part-LOL!! But he said as I lose weight it's easier to find. He moved back to New Zealand-so now I have the other surgeon assistant-which also helped mine, so I know her. She's the one that stuck me 2x. You spend more time waiting in the office for your fill than the actual fill. Good luck!! and no solid food 2 hrs before a fill was what I was told. Liquids 48 hrs after and mushy foods 2 days after that. Good luck!!!!
Your Dr's protocol is the only one to follow - if they haven't given you one - please ask them. However, knowing what others have gone through as a comparison is always useful. My clinic has a fill nurse that does the fills, takes just a few seconds, no pain at all and you can either lie down or stand up whichever you prefer. After the fill you have to stay in the office until you have finished 8 oz of water. Instructions are to eat light the day of (no heavy proteins such as steak but egg, greek yogurt etc are all OK). Liquids sfor 24hours, mushies (no lumps at all) for 24 hours and then regular food.
