went to my first seminar

Hey I went to my seminar in Louisville this past Tuesday the 18th. It went great! My husband and I have decided that I will have the RNY. We have chosen Dr. Shina at Norton in Louisville. I need to talk to other people who have had this so I will feel better plus I need more friends that know what I am going through. My husband and other friends are helpful but they really don't know what they are talking about. I have had a few people try to talk me out of my decision but that really isn't going to happen. I weigh 278 lbs and my BMI is 47.5. I have almost every co morbidity there is. I also have a 5 year old daughter that I want to see grow up. I am on Medicaid. I still need to fill out my packet and send in which is what I am doing today. Hope to hear from my new friends really soon. I can only get on the computer once or twice per week so If I don't answer really soon that is why. See you guys later! Also anyone from Georgetown who would like to talk to me WELCOME!!!!!

Welcome Lou Ann. You will definately find people here who will support your decision. First I would tell you that you need to make this decision for you not anyone else. If people do not like the choice you have made then tuff. You said it best your self...you have several co morbitities and want to be able to see your 5 year old grow up. It is very important to have people around you that support your decision though, so having your husband on your side is a huge plus. I too have medicaid, my weight and bmi are not much different from yours. I also have a 5 year old daughter, but I am a single mom. So the choice was really hard for me. I just went to Louisville to see Dr. Geller on Thrus the 20th. They were ready to submit because I took everything with me that they needed. You will love this site.
