hello I'm new here

hello my name is Lou Ann and I go to my first seminar on Tuesday. I'm on medicaid and I'm hopinmg to have my surgery very soon. How long does it take from the first seminar to the surgery? I don't know anything about this except that I'm very tired of being sick and fat. thanks, Lou Ann

Hey Lou Ann, I had surgery 3 months after I went my surgeon's seminar. You could probably get it sooner if you get your psych evaluation pretty quick and the place you are going to isn't really booked up. Medicaid doesn't take as long as most Insurances to get approved. Good Luck.

Hey Lou Ann, I too am just on medicaid and pretty new here, I am going this Thrusday for my seminar, nutrition eval, psych eval, and surgeon consult all on the same day. I have all my dr records, records of attempted weight loss with no sucess, and two letters from my pcp and neurologist recommeding me for surgery. I am hoping to have my surgery in mid-May. I don't know if that will work or not but I am trying. Good luck to you and if you need any help or tips please email me. One thing you will find out here is that there are so many caring people and soooo much info. This board is really great. It is a very difficult decision to have wls and an even more difficult road getting there. So do not give up and just keep in mind that if this is God's will, then it will all work out just fine. --Angela

welcome to the site my sister. I have been to my meetings and thet are vert infoed and kind of scary at the same time.I hope that u don't run into any mass like I have about insurance. I have been deined and my appeal has been deined but I am not going to give up yet. I am so tried of being fat and tried of being out of breath as the months go on I am having more illness to come upon me. Is anyone else out there going through the same.If so write a sister back and let's sing this fat stuff away.

Good Luck...I am sure you guys will all do great!! remember to take this opportunity to learn everything you can about this amazing surgery and your docs.. ask lots of questions and never leave without an answer,...If you are like me and often forget what you were going to ask once you get there..start taking notes. whatever we can do here to help you with the anxiety of waiting..ugh, I remember that part oh to well!!
